Advantages: Nightly Entertainment, Can Be Good At Times

Disadvantages: Ran Out of Ideas, Repetitive

Everyone has an opinion on Big Brother, regardless of whether you watch it or not. For some, it's entertaining. For others, it's pointless TV, watched by idiots, which is taking up time and money which could be used on other shows.

~~~ What's it About ? ~~~

Basically, a group of everyday people are put into a house which is completely covered by televsion cameras and microphones. The show then runs for a number of weeks (10+).

The contestants participate in daily tasks which they must complete in order to gain a reward. They also get a main task which covers a few days, which depending on their performance, either earns them a food budget to buy what they like from the shopping list or earns them rice and other basic food.

The contestants also nominate each other to decide who faces eviction. The public then vote for who they want to be saved.

The eventual winner recieves £100,000.

~~~ Tasks ~~~

At the beginning of the show the tasks that were given could be quite entertaining. However, after 10 series the tasks are becoming increasingly boring and repetitive. They usually involve the group trying to copy some kind of music video.

~~~ Contestants ~~~

As the show has progresses, the running theme has been to just get as many bisexual people as possible in the house. Ideally for the producers this will make the chances of a couple having sex in the house greater, but nothing ever happens.

All the good contestants already seem to have been put in though, as they are getting progressively more boring.

~~~ Big Brother ~~~

The people that make the rules are also becoming increasingly boring. As soon as any kind of incident, which could be entertaining occurs, the housemates involved are immediately called to the diary room.

Obviously, this is in a bid to keep the amount of complaints the show receives to a minimum.

~~~ Davina McCall ~~~

I quite like Davina as a presenter and I'm happy they kept with her throughout the shows. I am becoming a little less fond of her, mainly because she seems to be trying to hard nowadays. She also claims to love the show, but looks down her nose at the housemates, in my opinion.

~~~ Overall ~~~

Having watched the show from the beginning, only missing one series, I have to say I'm really starting to tire of the show. I like knowing it's on, as I always have something to watch every night of the week. But, instead of watching expecting to see sometihng good happen, I just wath incase something entertaining happens.

With only one series to go (on Channel 4 anyway) you would expect the last series to be the best. However, the producers seem to have completely ran out of ideas for the show and obvious things which could make it more entertaining are never used. Time for the production team to listen to Frankie Boyle's ideas (Mock the Week fans will know what I mean).

It's probably for the best that it is coming to an end. Although, if a new channel was to take up the rights for the show I would continue to watch. Hopefully this does happen and some new ideas are injected into the show.
