Advantages: Light and Fun - Something to Laugh at

Well, where do you start reviewing Big Brother then? It has changed so much in the 9 years it has been on our screens in the UK.

Ok, so the basic format of the show in a group of people in a house (used to be ten but in more recent years this has increased), they abide and live by a set of rules and must nominate one member of the group to leave each week, the final contestant (who id voted for by the public) being crowned the winnder and walking off with a prize in the region of £100k.

During their time in the house, Big Brother will set tasks, such as dancing, memorising languages, dressing up etc; if the inmates pass the task, they will be rewarded with extra money for shopping or some special treats such as alcohol.

Now, depending on the year, this programme can be great.... or awful. To being with, the 1st two years in fact, the housemates were fun to watch as they were more or less normal quirky people, then in the third series, they began to consist of alot of fame hungry wanna bes such as Jade Goody RIP and Alison (Cant remember her surname). This was a down point for me and I stopped watching for a while. However, this year (2009) the show came back to life and I became addicted once more.

I understand that this is not the best thing ever to grace or box, but one thing that does annoy me is when people complain or moan about it being awful..... simple soloution is - dont watch it. Depending on the cohort as mentioned, this can be a very addictive thing to get into over the summer - to the point where you find yourself getting emotionally attached to the housemates (I was very upset when Rodrigo didnt win this year)

Summary: Good as long as you dont take it all too seriously - Its only a gameshow!
