Big Brother (TV Series)
Advantages: something to watch while nothing on tv
Disadvantages: on too many months and can get boring
Big Brother what can i say, I say every year I am not going to watch it, then i do, the intentions are always there but I just cannot help it when my friends and family call me to say have I seen this and that and then I Just watch it to see what everyone is talking about.
This programme on Channel 4 began in 2000 and the first winner of the show was Craig Phillips and he went on to do different projects from the show as he was a builder by trade and he did absolutley well from the programme, he is a lovely decent man and he came from Liverpool, he also donated all his money he won from the show £70,000 to a little girl who was disabled to help her with her life but she unfortuneley died a couple of years ago from another illness I believe but I cannot be certain it was.
I am pleased that this year 2010 is the last one, as it has past time on the tv, the people on it are the same as the previous year and they all try to do the same.
Usually there are 15 plus carefully chosen people who Channel 4 the programme makers choose themselves to be put into a house away from the reality of life from the outside world with a camera on them 24/7, they get to do tasks, which sometimes are now the same each year, if the task is pasted by the rules of Big Brother the housemates as they are called get to have a bigger shopping budget the following week.
Each week there is normally an eviction, sometimes there are two, but mostly one, each housemate has to go into a room called the Diary room and nominate 2 housemates to go up for eviction, they give their reasons why they nominate them 2 people and sometimes the housemate nominates who the public think they won't.
Every Friday is the usual eviction night but sometimes it is an additional night, for usually an extra eviction.
On eviction night some of the public a small crowd are outside the studio to greet them when they come out, sometimes they get boos and sometimes cheers, usually the more popular a housemate is the more cheers they get, but even then there can be some surprises on eviction night.
The Presenter of the show is Davina McCall, she is not so good at the show now in my opinion as I think she has her favourites when they come out and it shows when she asks them questions when they are evicted.
Channel 4 do a follow on show called Big Brother Big Mouth also presented by Davina, and it follows the main show for an hour usually.
Every night at 6.30pm usually they have another follow up show called Big Brother Little Brother, last year the presenter was George Lamb, who I think is a good presenter so far, the show gives updates for the daily evening show and gives little clips of what the housemates have been up to the previous day or night.
The main show is on at 10pm and the show is from 9pm - 10pm on Fridays eviction night, and then the evicted person is interviewed at 10.30pm until 11pm usually and then the follow up show is then screened.
Like I say every year I will not be watching it this year but I bet I do again.
You either love this programme or hate it, I love and hate it! gulps!
If you have not seen it, take a look around May time because you will not get the chance again.
