Advantages: Addictive
Disadvantages: Too Addictive?
Well that's it, over for another year - some will breathe a sigh of relief and others will sob for a while until something else comes on. For me it will be a mixture, I'll miss my daily dose of Brian -isms, but at the same time, I'm glad that it's over - it was becoming one of those compulsive viewing things, and that is never a good thing for me. Compulsive viewing quickly becomes obsession, and then requires me to have a good shake to get myself out of the obsession. So for those of you who have been stuck in a cave for the last few weeks and do not know what Big Brother is, I'll explain. 10 people were picked to go into a house in Bow in London. You can't hide anywhere in this house as there are cameras everywhere, and the doors are all locked, so there's no escaping either. These 10 people do not know each other and all come from a different background, and they are expected to live together and then each week nominate 2 people that they would like to evict out of the house. Initially they have 2 weeks together, then the nominations begin. The public rings in to vote out who they wish to leave, and on the Friday night of that week they are evicted out of the house. This goes on for 9 weeks until there are 3 left, and then the public votes for who they want to win. But why would anyone want to do this? Some will tell you it is for the whole experience, but I am quite sure that £70,000 prize money probably plays a quite substantial role in it! Now this year, we had an extra thing added, when the first person (Penny) was evicted, she was replaced by Josh who the public voted into the house, so essentially this year there was 11 housemates. This left four at the end and was overcome by surprising the house to evict someone on the Thursday night before the grand Finale. Penny was the first to go. She was a teacher, who was someone hyper, did a lot of flirting with housemate Paul, and had a bril
liant fight with Stuart. If I had been her I would not have apologised to him, but it was very obvious how insecure she was, and many people feared that she would flip if she stayed in longer - so out she went. Stuart was next to be evicted, and not surprisingly after how horrible he was to both Penny and Amma. He seemed to think that he was in control, and that he could control what went on in the house, and was so big headed I am surprised that he even got into the house, ahem. Many people disliked Stuart for the petty things that he did such as being jealous of Josh's tan and winking at himself in the mirror. He was two faced, and no one likes people who are two faced - so off he went back to his farm with who cares how many acres of land. Bitchy Narinder was 3rd to leave the house - Brian's partner in crime, Narinder said what she thought, and good on her I thought - but tact was something that she lacked, yes, I'm all for honesty, but sometimes things like that can hurt and so I think she went too far. I still liked her though and was sad to see her go. Bubble was up next. While the tabloids raged between him and Paul, it was a very close call, but Bubble went, famous for his hats and excited about seeing his little girl again. Many of the house mates were shocked to see Bubble leave. Amma (thankfully) went next, she had to be the most annoying person ever with her slow, calculated conversations, I couldn't help but think that she had some "Master Plan". Amma was a lapdancer, and so many of the male members of the public found her quite enticing - but this wasn't enough to keep her in the house. Josh. Well he promised it all, sex and excitement in the house, what we got was boring conversations, him sleeping and reading books. Not exactly thrilling. So just as they had voted him in, out he went again. Josh and Paul had a few blow ups as did Brian and Josh. Josh thought tha
t Brian was threatened by the fact that there was another gay man in the house, but I think that Josh secretly fancied him. Paul went next after having escaped eviction numerous times before. His relationship with Helen kept the nation on the edge of their seat with the "will they wont they?". Paul seen himself as "Leading the life of an international Pop star" something that he will most likely never live down. Paul was a bit boring, but his relationship with Helen certainly spiced things up a little. He's a bit of a lad, but I think at the end of the day his heart is in the right place. Liz went out on the Thursday night before the Finale. Many of the public had been just looking for an excuse to get rid of her, and with 2% of the public wanting her to stay in, off she walked down the walk of shame. Liz (nicknamed Betty) was not very interesting if the truth be told. Many on the outside perceived her as being two faced, her allie was Dean with whom she had long interesting conversations. Dean came 3rd, with 5% of the votes, Dean was the father figure of the house. Brian and him appeared to get on well with their superhero lines causing much amusement, with Brian naming him "Chickpea man, lost as a boy and raised by a family of Chickpeas." Dean enjoyed Tai Chi and spent a long time strumming on his guitar. During one of the challenges Dean broke a world record - he now holds the world record for building a sugar cube tower. Now that's something for your CV! Helen, bubbly Helen Adams won second place. Helen was well known for her silly comments, her glitter, her relationship with Paul and for being quite niave. Everyone loved her, she was just like the girl next door, loving all things girly. She captured the nations heart even though she didn't win. She will do well. Brian, Evil demons Evil, Brian won, famous for being gay and very camp. Brian never hid his sexual
ity and none of the housemates seemed to hold it against him. From the word go Brian was himself, a little bit spoilt, but at the same time loveable, and very funny. Brian was well known for looking at the camera men in the mirrors and calling them "demons", in fact anything that Brian didn't like was named "demon" - this included Josh. There was never any real doubt that Brian would win, he certainly was the one that I wanted to win. But another star of Big Brother had to be Davina McCall, who despite being heavily pregnant did a wonderful job of hosting all the eviction nights - she's a wonderful presenter, and just increased the tension of the whole event as she was so interested in it all herself. In all, this years big Brother was very different from last years - the house was better for starters, the housemates knew that they would be household names soon and some obviously played to the camera. It was still good never the less, in fact I would go as far to say that it was better in some ways - now only two questions on our minds - what will happen to our 11 housemates? And will there be a Big Brother 3?
