Advantages: News before the main show, Analysis of BB house, Unheard gossip
Disadvantages: Vapid gossip not for some, One segment not for recent BB fans
First of all, if you don't watch or enjoy watching Big Brother you will find this programme utterly tedious. As you probably guessed from the title, this show is a fanzine and almost entirely revolves around the main show.
Hosted by George Lamb, who is an adequate presenter and has enough personality to propel the show along. He has a very generic look about him which I cannot quite place. Maybe it's because he reminds me of Alex Zane, I don't know.
Lamb walks over to Ian Lee at some point during the show where he talks about Big Brother in another country which can often be quite interesting. Although I don't find either of them particularly funny, Ian and his awkwardness can sometimes make me chuckle.
George usually finds a Z-list celebrity to chat with and who can give their own psychoanalysis of the housemates. On occasion, he also talks to experts which can be more interesting as their opinions are more informed rather than "I have a feeling". This for me was the more interesting part of the show because it can sometimes provide a worthwhile perspective into the house.
There is a segment on the show I always skip. It involves a couple of hardcore Big Brother fans trying to guess the identity of a mystery Big Brother contestant from a past series. If you are like me and haven't watched every series made (in fact, I've only watched series 10 and the last Celebrity Big Brother) then you probably couldn't care less.
In episodes recently after an eviction, they have interviews with the evicted housemate. This can be good if you want to see more of them. Not the case if you're glad to see the back of them.
It's not particularly edgy or intelligent stuff but nobody expects it to be. It's very light, it doesn't trigger anything in you or make you feel anything it just keeps you sort of mildly interested and you'd probably forget it all ten minutes after watching. You could call it mind-numbing but that can be a good thing, just to watch a programme without any real thinking.
Some might want to watch it simply because they occasionally reveal details prior to the main show.
The normal Big Brother viewer can take it or leave it, this is only compulsory viewing for the hardened fan.
Summary: Very mediocre Big Brother fanzine
