Advantages: Great songs, gets children interseted in cooking
Disadvantages: repeated alot
As a stay at home mother of a 2 year old and a new baby I spend most of my time with cbeebies on and I am very familiar with all the programmes, my favourite of these is Big cook, little cook.
Big cook little cook is a childrens cookery programme set in a cafe, it has 2 characters Big cook Ben played by Stephen Marsh and Little cook small played by Dan Wright. (both Stephen and Dan are adult stand up comedians).Ben is a normal size man and Small is about 5 inch tall.
Every episode has a basic structure, Ben and Small get a customer, normally someone from a nursery book (you never see them yourself) and then Small reads you a story from his book about that customer and himself. They then have to think of what to cook for the customer and look in Big cooks big cookery book where they find the perfect recipe. They then read out the ingredients and the quantities you need. Little cook small then fly's off on his Spoon mobile to find out how one of the ingredients is made.
When little cook comes back they make the dish in the typical cookery programme style explaining each step. They then give the dish to the customer who thanks them with a card.
All the dishes are easy to make even for small children and all look very appealing. Most are healthy too.
It also has very catchy songs and I find myself singing along and also doing my own renditions much to my partners annoyance and although its for children it is one of the programmes I enjoy watching.
Summary: A great kids programme
