My daughter has just come to that wonderful age where she is amazed by the telly and now has here own favourites.
The last month or so it has been the big cook little cook show on Cbeebies.
The basic format of this show is what I think appeals to Alexis.
The show features a cook called Big cook called Ben, who is normal adult sized and his little cook called small, who is only a few inches tall . I wouldn't say small is a "cook" as all he really does in each episode is read from his little book and flys off on his wooden spoon to find out how a chosen ingredient is made/grown.
The programme is set in a cafe, which you never see anything of, other than the kitchen.
You also don't see any customers, which are usually a fairy tale creature.
The episodes are broken down into smalls adventure and the actual cooking. As with most preschool tv, it wouldn't be complete without catchy songs and little dance moves.
Both of the actors "over act" but this just adds to the fun and excitement of the show.
We watch big cook twice aday now on Cbeebies and have just watched the episode with wee willy winky.
The presenters are slightly annoying but I think the way there are is what makes the programme work.
Alexis likes to cook in her play kitchen and does tell me to be careful when I am cooking because the oven is hot hot hot.
Big cook little cook have there own website with games, a cookery book, arty ideas and galley photos.
The cooking book features dishes from past shows, so thats great to do after watching it on Cbeebies.
All in all a good early years television programme on cooking.
Actors - Stephen Marsh and Dan Wright
They both star together in the stand-up comedy partnership Electric Forecast.
Big cook Little cook is on cbeebies at 10.25am and 1.55pm.
