Blackadder Back and Forth (1999)Blackadder bids his friends farewell and steps into the time machine and he and Baldrick set upon a journey spanning centuries. Newest Review: ... not think that this is excessive within either of the specials and feel that it should cause no objections from the audience as long as the 15 certificate is adhered too. The cast of the series all put in performances in the specials with the exception of Brian Blessed who appeared in Series 1. The quality of the acting on the whole is fantastic and all the cast seem to be extremely ... more |

...Baldrick's pants! Blackadder is the generic name of a historical sitcom by the BBC that ran for four series. Each series is set in a completely different era from the Tudors to World War One, yet each follow the fortunes and misfortunes of Edmond Blackadder, played by Rowan Atkinson and his sidekick though more often dogsbody Baldrick, played by Tony Robinson. The sitcom lasted for four series as well as quite a few specials of which two are contained on this DVD. Since the last series Blackadder's social standing seems to have increased, which is odd because the common pattern for the series' was for Blackadder's social standing to reduce but ... Blackadder Back and Forth is a one-off comedy special featuring the Blackadder clan. It was made specifically for the "SkyScape" cinema near the Millennium Dome in London. This film had many firsts for the Blackadder series. It was the first to be shot entirely on film, the first to not feature a laugh track (although for when it was broadcast on the BBC one was added), was the first Blackadder to be filmed in widescreen and the first to be set in the same time it was actually made. The story is about the present day Blackadder, entertaining his friends in Blackadder Hall on New Years Day, 1999. He bets his friends he can't go back in time ... Read the complete review

Written to be shown in the Millennium Dome... and we all know what happened to the Dome. In all honesty this comeback deserves to have gone the same way. It was going to be either very, very funny, or else hide your eyes, cringe with embarrassment bad. Unfortunately, it's the latter. it's Millennium Eve and Blackadder and Baldrick have a cunning plan to build a replica of a time machine designed by Da Vinci, in order to fleece friends and dinner guests in a bet. Baldrick unfortunately builds a time machine that actually works, prompting encounters with great characters from British History (Robin Hood, Shakespeare and the like) and the butterfly-effect style ... this programme was a welcome return of one of the all time greatest comedy shows. To celebrate the milienium, Blackadder (played by Rowan Atkinson) along with his servant Baldrick (played by Tony Robinson) along with usual Blackadder actors (Miranda Richardson, Stephen Fry & Tim McInnerny). This special start wit all of the charaters dining on New year's eve 1999, and Edmund revealing that he has built a time machine and then stating that he cantravel back in time. This then leads everyone else into betting him to bring back a piece of history from a specific period. ... Read the complete review

I was inspired to write this having seen that 'Blackadder Back and Forth' is being shown on the television next week. As you're about to find out this isn't worth the eneragy you'll expend trying to find the tv remote in order to channel. In fact, the tv remote is probably hiding since it has had warning about the monster you're about to unleash and the fact you can't find it should tell you NOT TO TURN OVER. The gourmet meal we have been treated to in past Blackadder series is replaced by the crumbs from the rich man's table (the rich man being the fool who decided to commision this), in fact far from being a delicacy, this is simply ...
