Advantages: Makes me laugh

Disadvantages: Can't watch every episode as it always on when I'm at work, roll on the holidays?

Do you yearn for those simple days? When a joke was a joke and the whole family could join in without your Granny being shocked. Well this is the show for you.
I first remember watching this when it was repeated in the 1980's on ITV, I wasn't even born when it first aired. Luckly it still gets an outing on the satellite channel Paramount 2.
To me it is a great comedy showing the usual family life and all the problems they encounter.
Sid Abbot is the head of the family, his wife Jean and their two children Mike and Sally. Sid is constantly harrassed with demands from his family and often comes up with schemes to help him cope. I'm watching an episode as I'm typing where he puts all the clocks in the house forward as for 24 hours he can only eat bread and water and he cannot cope.
Sid Abbot is played by Sid James. His character is what we expected of Sid James and even though you're not surprised by him, at the same time you are not disappointed.
The two characters that at times are not believable are the son and daughter. Sally is meant to be 15 but looks 25 and the son Mike is at University but looks more like he's in his early 30's.
Although at times it feels very fast paced due to the fact that two or more days can be squeezed into one episode it is still a gentle comedy that appeals to all ages and will have you howling with laughter.

Summary: Makes you realise you family is more normal then you think!
