Advantages: great fun

Disadvantages: scripted jokes

WHAT IS IT ABOUT:
Cilla Black hosts the legendary show that sees three people vying for the affection of a mystery inquirer. The contestants each have to answer the inquisitor's questions, who then choses one to go on holiday with, all in the hope of finding love. Oh, and they can't see each-other either!

IS IT ANY GOOD:
Saturday nights were all about Blind Date, a show that brilliantly mixed a bit of everything to keep everyone happy. There was laughter, tears, love and innuendo in one of the only shows that truly transcended all age barriers and was loved by everyone. Cilla Black did a brilliant job as hostess, with her cheeky character just right for the show. It's a shame she isn't on our screens any more, as this was a real niche she excelled at, not like that pile of crap 'Surprise surprise'!

The funniest thing was always seeing last week's contestants' holiday video, as time and time again they fell out. Of course, a lot of them did their best to enjoy themselves, but when Cilla got them on the couch the girl would always say she didn't want to see the poor guy again.

This was a feel good show that could do so well if it came back. Another thing that was really good about it was how it combined travel show information, so we would find out about the nice places (and the not so nice ones). It was so funny when they picked a terrible holiday, and you almost hoped they would so that you had something to laugh at last week.

Finally, do you remember Cilla saying "will I need to buy myself a new hat?" I think a few couples off the show got married, but the vast majority hated eachother.

The only down-side is the questions and answers were scripted, but that made it more polished and funny, so I can forgive it that.

IN CONCLUSION:
A well polished show that had a massive feel-good factor about it.

Summary: watch it!

I hated it from day one because it was so contrived and showbiz.

I was just thinking about this show the other day! They should bring it back without the scripting of the answers.
