When this first appeared on our sreen on a Saturday night I quite enjoyed the show with its host Cilla Black who although she had a really annoying accent was really good at getting on with the contestants and bringing them out of their shells, the problem with the show was that in the following series the contestants needed little encouragement to come out of their shells as they were all extrovert show offs and weirdoes.

The dating game was very simple, a single boy or girl would come out and get to ask three questions to three contestants of the opposite sex who they could not see, then based upon their answers they would select one of the three to go on a date, these vvaried in quality, everything from a few days in the Caribbean to a trip to Bangor in Wales, the cameras would follow them on their date and the following week they would return and clips would be shown and also footage from interviews where they would reflect on their date and then in the studio they would meet again and Cilla would ask a few questions.

Naturally it was more fun when things went badly and it could be amusing however it soon got predicatble and a bit stale, I did enjoy it when they had older people on it like some OAP's as they were more grounded and up for a bit of fun.

The show did create a couple of weddings and Cilla got to wear a new hat but ultimately it failed to capture a new audience after a few series.
