Advantages: Promotes good causes and has a funky colourful set
Disadvantages: Dull features, irritating, misrable presenters.
Although I never did like Blue Peter (even when I was younger) at least before there were some good presenters, who were up for anything and always had a grin on their faces. Now the last of these (Katy Hill) has gone and we are left with irritating presenters like Konnie Huq and Matt Baker, who are barely likeable, patronizing and poor at delivering their lines. Most of the “makes” on the show are out of date. Take the Barbie bedroom, for example. How long has it been since you saw a child play with a Barbie doll? They’re all too busy playing on their game consoles, or swapping Pokemon cards. The “Friday Challenge” is the most annoying thing on TV and the features are about as exciting as watching wet paint dry. The only remotely interesting parts of the show are the competitions. Though, winning a blue peter badge doesn’t exactly fill me with interest and eagerness to enter. I suppose Blue Peter does have its good points: it promotes good causes and encourages kids to look after the environment. It features some well-known popular stars. And the set remains ever bright, colourful and attractive. But I really don’t believe Blue Peter is any good at all any more. It needs to get with it.

- 29/12/00 I have to disagree, I used to love it as a kid and always wanted to be a presenter. I watched the Blue Peter selection box on Wednesday 27th Dec which was the highlights of the year 2000 and it was good to see all the show from over theyear again especially the one with the old presenters John Noakes and Valerie Singleton coming back to open there time capsule and seeing how excited they got when they found there stuff all these years later!! But great personal opinion though :) |

- 21/08/00 I completely agree with you, as will my stepkids. Since Home and Away disappeared from the screens we are subjected to blue peter whilst we wait for Neighbours to come on. I never liked it as a child either but it has really gone downhill recently! |
