Advantages: Something for everyone, A British Institution

Disadvantages: Some dodgy recepies, need a big stock of sticky backed plastic and washing up bottles

Since I was 5 I have had a dream to be a Blue Peter Presenter! I don't know what it is but I can even see myself there and being quite good at it. Blue Peter is a British institution now, the majoity of us have grown up with it since it started back in the 60's (I think) and it remains a fun but educational programme.

Blue Peter is shown on BBC1 three days a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday at just after 5 until 5.35. The format is basically 4 presenters, 2 female and 2 Male at present, who host a show which contains music from both top chart artists as well as bands and performers who have suceeded in the music field for other reasons. such as school bands. There are also many educational features which have included extensive features in the Millenium Dome (someone had to go there),historical features of the war, other society defining moments like the plight of the Suffragettes. The presenters also get to travel the world and from this you can get insight into other cultures and ways of life.

I am a big fan of the cookery slots and demonstrations which are always good for a laugh. As the not so young anymore, well not target Blue Peter age, I have to admit to trying some kebab type things that they demonstrated last year, they had marshmellows on, bread covered in sugar and many really quite disgusting things. They actually were the biggest cullinary disater ever as the marshmellows melted and put out the barbeque, however all my friends thought it was very hilarious that I got the idea from Blue Peter and it provided a great talking point. My main point is that one of the reasons that this programme is and remains so sucessful is that it appeals to most people. Although it is featured in a childrens TV slot, the viewers vary from ages 5 to 100 I am sure.

Oh and If anyone has any advice for me as to how I can become a Blue Peter presenter I would be very grateful indeed! Andwers on a postcard please.....
