Advantages: Stalker character was funny at first
Disadvantages: Not funny with any sort of consistency
Usually I quite like surreal comedy, I'm a big fan of acts like Reeves and Mortimer but for some reason I have never found Bo Selecta funny in the slightest.
All of the comic, and I use the term lightly, creations in the show are from the mind of Avid Merrion, the show is a series of clips featuring his various characters, most of these are developed through large masks and prosthetics and it is certainly meant to be surreal. For example you have Scary Spice who is half woman half man and has a disgusting mouth on her, you also have a Craig David send up who has a stuffed kestral called KES flying above him on a piece of wire and you also have a Michael Jackson send up.
The one character I did find funny at first was the stalker character with the neck bandage on who stalks celebrities and in the celebrity interviews he always manages to get the talk onto sx and what he would like to do with them. This was amusing in first as most people like to see celebrities get sent up but after a while it just got repetitive.
Oeverall this is a programme that I tried and found that I did not like and so gave up on it.
Summary: Surreal comedy that does not work
