Bob and RoseNewest Review: ... all her complex feelings for Bob and internal insecurities. Other storylines involved both Bob and Roses’s parents coming to terms with their own lives and mistakes and expectations. The militant gay campaigner (Bob’s mum) played by Penelope Wilton was excellent. I remember her from Ever Decreasing C ircles X years ago. This series could have walked a fine line – the gay man turns straight scenario has many implications and potential offensiveness but Russel T. Davies dealt with this issue with loving attention. The first episode of Bob & Rose appeared on Monday 10th September on ITV - another 5 to go, and it shows at 9pm every Monday night. I really loved Queer as Folk - it was fun, upfront and showed many of the venues in Manchester's Gay Village that we visit. The downside of it was that it made visiting Canal Street a "cool thing to do" so the Gay Village is no longer as gay as it was. The story of Bob and Rose is based around a gay man - Bob (played by Alan Davies) who meets and falls for a straight Woman (Rose). The first episode covered them ... Read the complete review
