Bottom

Newest Review: ... they both so convincingly play the 2 characters. For those who have yet to see Bottom and to epitomise the humour in this show, a good example of this is when Ritchie accidentally chops his own finger off. When he does, jets of blood are spraying everywhere and Rictchie goes from being panic stricken to advising Eddie to apply a tourniquet. Eddie asks Ritchie how he does that and Eddie explains that it's when you restrict the flow of blood around the body. At this point Eddie replies with "righto" and proceeds to begin choking Ritchie senseless! Bottom never portrays itself as being intelligent, it makes no apologises for the j... more

Premium Review Bottom: Comedy at it's wackiest (340 words)

Bottom is one of those shows which is so ridiculously over the top and crazy, that it's something you will either love or hate. Perhaps this is more a reflection of my mental age, but I definitely endorse this show. The show stars 2 character, Ritchie and Eddie, both are broke, unemployed idiots who reside in a very grubby flat in Hammersmith. They have no real goals in life, no sense of direction, they don't even wander around aimlessly. In fact almost exclusively they spend their time couped up in their home. They spend their time attacking each other with whatever comes to hand, or insulting one another which to leaves to a mass brawl. When they ...  Read the complete review

Bottom is one of those funny shows i hadnt seen in absolutely ages and i found a Bottom dvd in a cupboard of mine a few days ago. I played it and couldnt stop laughing for ages. Its completely brilliant! If you have never heard of Bottom, it is an award winning sitcom that was popular on our screens in the 1990s. A lot of people may find this program and the humour in it a bit crude for their tastes but i have the kind of sense of humour where i think its really funny. Bottom was created by and starred the brilliant Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson. The story centres around characters Richie and Eddie and most of it is filmed in their ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Bottom: A classic (240 words)

Bottom is a sitcom first broadcast in 1991. It is written by the stars of the show Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson. The show is about two friends living together Richard Richard (Rik Mayall) and Edward Hitler (Adrian Edmonson) in a very badly kept flat in Hammersmith, London. They are both unemployed and spend a lot of time arguing, beating each other up, trying to make money and trying to get 'birds'. The humour in this program is silly and violet but it will make you laugh all the time because of the brilliant performances by Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmonson. They work really well together and the the face expressions they pull off are hilariously funny. A lot ...  Read the complete review

Background The series was written by Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmonson and was aired in the 90s by the BBC. Bottom ran for three series with a movie in 1999 (Guest House Paradiso) and a number of live comedy (Bottom Live) shows throughout the UK. Plot The story involves two bachelors torturing each other in disgusting, crude and brutal ways while inhabiting a rundown filthy flat in Hammersmith. Their antics usually end up with somebody behind thwacked in the pelvic region with a blunt instrument such as a baseball bat or frying pan or being poked in the eye. There are usually just the two characters that rarely leave the flat, though other ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Bottom (367 words)

Rating:

Bottom follows in the same style as the previously successful The Young Ones, as it stars two of the actors from The Young Ones, Rick Mayall and Ade Edmonson as Richie and Eddie. The show ran for three series and numerous stage shows and a fourth series had been developed, but was not taken up by the BBC. The series follows the adventures of Richie and Eddie, two hopeless, unemployed men that have trouble attracting the attention of the opposite sex. The pair both live in a run down flat in Hammersmith. The main elements of the show involved very violent slap stick comedy, as after a gag one of them would normally end up hitting each other with an item that ...  Read the complete review
