The Young Ones was great comedy and I had hopes that Bottom would be just as good as it featured two of the stars from the Young Ones, Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson however unfortunately it was a flop as far as I was concerned, the humour was purile and repititive and soon got boring and as such I soon stopped watching it. In all they made 18 episodes divided up into three six part series.

The two play London based flat mates Richie ( Rik Mayall ) and Eddie ( Ade Edmondson ), they are both pretty retched characters, neither work and they both have a perverted infantile attitude to sex, most of the comedy in this was of the violent slap stick kind and there was little effort made to include any intelligent dialogue.

If it had any plus points it was in some of the absurd situations the two found themselves in especially Mayall character who was the one of the two who was most concerned with his own personal standing and the most desperate of the two to have sex.

For me this lacked the sharpness of the Young Ones and fet like a pale shadow of that show. Not the finest thing by a long way that British comedy has ever produced.

Summary: Rubish comedy

I am not overly keen but my husband is obsessed. He has a freind who he sees about every 6 months, and they still recite lines from the series, very sad!! Nicola x

Bottom wasn't a flop; it was REALLY popular with sold out live shows and everything. I didn't like it but a lot of people did.
