Advantages: Over the top but very funny, great on screen chemistry, the fights

Disadvantages: Too stupid for some, it's juvenile

Bottom is one of those shows which is so ridiculously over the top and crazy, that it's something you will either love or hate. Perhaps this is more a reflection of my mental age, but I definitely endorse this show.

The show stars 2 character, Ritchie and Eddie, both are broke, unemployed idiots who reside in a very grubby flat in Hammersmith. They have no real goals in life, no sense of direction, they don't even wander around aimlessly. In fact almost exclusively they spend their time couped up in their home.

They spend their time attacking each other with whatever comes to hand, or insulting one another which to leaves to a mass brawl. When they direct their energy's away from pummeling one another, their focus is on pulling some birds, drinking and making money. They never achieve any of these goals but it does make for some stupidly funny television.

The show makes full of expletive outbursts from the two of them, is quite violent at times but done in a very theatrical manner. The 2 actors share a great on screen chemistry and this allows what could have been a potentially disastrous plot to be a great success because of the way in they both so convincingly play the 2 characters.

For those who have yet to see Bottom and to epitomise the humour in this show, a good example of this is when Ritchie accidentally chops his own finger off. When he does, jets of blood are spraying everywhere and Rictchie goes from being panic stricken to advising Eddie to apply a tourniquet. Eddie asks Ritchie how he does that and Eddie explains that it's when you restrict the flow of blood around the body. At this point Eddie replies with "righto" and proceeds to begin choking Ritchie senseless!

Bottom never portrays itself as being intelligent, it makes no apologises for the juvenile toilet humour and wackyness. In doing so though, it makes for very funny viewing.

Summary: Stupid but stupidly funny
