As a general rule of thumb, I would not be a fan of tv talent shows, as some of the "talent" on offer, I tend to watch from behind a cushion, cringing with embarassment. However, this series of Britain's Got Talent was one of those programmes that I became a bit obsessed about, clock watching to make sure I didn't miss it!

Some of the acts, in my opinion, were brilliant, others, well if that is the best that we as a nation have to offer, hmmmm. Although individually very good, and all incredibly brave to do what they have done, I can't think how some got to the final with the "goal" of performing infront of the Queen.

I am concerned though with the "celeb" status that the acts have now achieved. Perhaps that is a side of the show that some of them have wanted, others, maybe not.

The show itself provided an insight into what we think "talent" is and should be. I felt for the children. Especially during the semi finals when there were two "child" acts that the judges had to choose between. As grown ups, we can accept that someone has to come second and be rejected, but I do wonder if putting young children into this situation is something we should maybe question. All kids want to be famous pop stars/singers/actors/dancers etc but surely we have a responsibility as adults to not broadcast their hurt and rejection on national television?

On my soap box again, sorry. BGT is one of those programmes that we love to poke fun at and complain about yet it is addictive television.
