Advantages: You just never know what is coming next.
Disadvantages: Can be upsetting when the judges dash someones life long ambitions.
Britains Got Talent has been running for three years now and is a spin off from the series the x factor, both produced and judged by Simon Cowell.
The series starts with the auditions. There are quite a few episodes of these, shown weekly on ITV and are presented by Ant and Dec. This year on ITV2 is a spin off show presented by Stephen Mulhern. Stephen is also presenting the Britains Got Talent live tour which occurs after the show at various locations throughout Britain and includes all the years finalists.
The audition stages are the most humorous. Auditions are hosted at locations all around the country where thousands of hopefuls line up to be in with a chance of becoming Simon Cowells next biggest thing. The real and true prize, is performing at the royal variety show in front of her Majesty the Queen and 100,000 pounds.
The audtions are held in theatres in front of the judges. Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan are the long standing judges and a temporary slot this year was filled by Kelly Brook, although it was blink and you miss it.
The judges each have an X shaped buzzer and when all three of them are pressed the act has to stop and leave the stage. If they succeed in finishing their act the judges vote if they can go through to the next round.
Once all the audtions finish the judges then narrow this number down further to give the perfect number for the series of live semi finals. At this point the shows move to daily and the winner and second place from each semi final go through to the final on the Saturday night, which finishes the heavy week of Britains got Talent off! The winners of the semi finals and eventual final are judged by the public in phone votes. Although that does not mean the judges are silent as they still give their opinions!
Britains got Talent is great for those wanting an easy watch, sort of variety show TV programme. For those who will get easily offended by harsh judges comments or feel that ITV is exploiting small children then it is probably worth giving this a miss!
Summary: If you like obscure talents, opera singers and child stars this is for you.
