Britain's Got the Pop Factor

Description: Channel 4 / Comedy / The show parodies talent reality television programmes.

Newest Review: ... done. I just didn't find it funny at all! Peter Kay plays the character of Geraldine (he plays a woman worringly convincingly!), a trans-gender singer searching for that elusive shot of fame on the reality show Britain's Got The Pop Factor. The show is set on the final night of this series, where Geraldine is pitted against R Wayne, a Geordie lad so-called because he says "R" before ... more

Premium Review Britain's Got the Pop Factor: You may well enjoy this. I didn't! (426 words)

I am a massive fan of Peter Kay; i've seen all his stand-up DVDs, every episode of Pheonix Nights, That Peter Kay Thing and Max and Paddy, all of which have been wet-your-pants hilarious in my opinion, so I was really excited about watching Britain's Got The Pop Factor. What a disappointment! I can honestly say that I only laughed once throughout the whole duration of this show, and even that felt a little forced! Don't get me wrong, it's a very clever parody of shows such as The X Factor, and very affectionately done. I just didn't find it funny at all! Peter Kay plays the character of Geraldine (he plays a woman worringly convincingly!), a ...  Read the complete review

This brilliant 2 hours show, it's full title being 'Peter Kay's Britain's Got the Pop Factor... and Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice' was written by Peter Kay and Paul Coleman, being aired on channel four in October of 2008. It was shown in two parts on the same night... a 75 minute show followed later in the night by the 45 minutes results show and the final...basically copying the format of all the reality shows it was 'ripping' into... with some really comical results. Starring... ** THE FINALIST... *Geraldine McQueen, (played by Peter Kay), a large Irish lady, who happens to ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Britain's Got the Pop Factor: Sing for your dinner (261 words)

This show from Peter Kaye is a wonderful satire of all those entertainment reality shows that manage to mess up the voting from the viewers to create a real farce of a programme. This has been aired in two parts, the first episode was the "live" final of the show with the final three contestants while the second show was a chanceto catch up with the winner and to launch their new xmas song. Of all the shows its sends up it is X-Factor whose format it follows most closely, Cat Deeley is the presenter and she is excellent in the role as she plays it very straight, Peter Kaye stars as one of the contestants Geraldine, a fat Irish transexual while the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Make Geraldine Number 1 at XMAS (392 words)

One of the things that I have discivered with Peter Kay comedies is that they are often more appreciated the second time I watch them, I loved Pheonix Nights but with the spin off Max and Paddy it was only when I watched the series a second time that I really found it funny. The same can be said for this one off satire of all those shows like X-Factor and Britains Got Talent, I saw it first when it was aired at the start of the current series of X-Factor and again this weekend at the end of the current show and I enjoyed it more second time around. The full title pretty much makes reference to most of the talent shows on TV and this one in format is like X ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Britain's Got the Pop Factor: Its not X-Factor, but does Britain have the Pop Factor? (1396 words)

The final of Britain's Got The Pop Factor (or to give it its full title Britain's Got The Pop Factor and Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice) was shown on Channel 4 on 12th October 2008, being the culmination of 15 weeks of live shows. Sounds similar to X-Factor? Well, yes, but with a twist I shall explain later. ****** THE JUDGES ****** The show has three judges being Dr Neil Fox, Nicki Chapman and Pete Waterman. Dr Fox - best known as the presenter of the network chart show on a Sunday afternoon (i.e. Pepsi Network Chart, Pepsi Chart and hit40uk as it was called at various stages) and ...  Read the complete review
