Britain's Next Top Model

However, after having watched this series, I can honestly say that I appreciate the job models do a lot more with them having to convey particular emotions and feelings in every photoshoot. The programme is basically a reality TV show where contestants compete to win a modelling contract and a cover and six page spread in 'Company' magazine. Being a reality TV show, there is always drama away from the photoshoots and you always like some contestants more than others and thus find yourself supporting them as the competion progresses. The competion consists of a series of challenges tha... more

With the current season having just finished on monday, I felt I should write a review about how much I enjoyed watching it. I must admit, I never really thought there was much to modelling and I figured you just wore the products you were asked to, stood and stared into a camera. However, after having watched this series, I can honestly say that I appreciate the job models do a lot more with them having to convey particular emotions and feelings in every photoshoot. I have watched Americas next top model for some years now but only started watching the British version when it was in it's 3rd cycle. Currently it's coming to the end of it's 5th cycle. I also watch the Australian version of the show. How does the British version compare? WHAT THE SHOWS ABOUT It's a pretty simple premise. A supermodel competition. 12 girls live together in a house (Big Brother stylee). They face photoshoots and challenges and each week a girl is eliminated on the strength of their performance in these tasks, a simple but highly entertaining premise. HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO THE OTHER INTERNATIONAL VERSIONS OF THE SHOW? It ...  Read the complete review

I have been an avid viewer of America's Next Top Model for the last few years and have also been tuning into the Australian version. This season I have tuned into Britain's version. I definately do not enjoy this series as much as the American version which is hosted by Tyra Banks. You feel Tyra truly gives a real opinion on each of the girls. Lisa Snowdon hosts the British version. First off - she herself is not a supermodel like Tyra was. Secondly - she is always overly nice to the contestants. Modelling is one of the toughest industries particulalrly for bitching and competitiveness and I feel it is unfair to the girls to pamper them so much in the ...  Read the complete review

I had half a mind not to write this review - do I really want to confess in public to watching this show? But considering that I've spent most of the weekend semi-watching about 10 episodes of the catchup omnibus, I feel the need to get my opinion off my chest! Now to be fair to me, I do crossstitch while watching TV (now is that something I want to confess to in public I wonder?) so usually it's just background noise for me. And this show is perfect for background noise. It involves getting a bunch of 18-23 year old aspiring female models into a house and setting them different tasks each week as they compete to become Britain's Next Top Model. ...  Read the complete review

Britain's Next Top Model is the highlight of my Monday nights at the moment and a show that I eagerly await while watching Coronation Street and Eastenders prior to it coming on. It's not exactly the most stimulating programme on the TV and now is it educational in anyway, however if you're looking for some good old bitching on a completely shallow level you may have just found it! The show is a copy of the American hit series, America's Next Top Model hosted by Tyra Banks and currently on its tenth series. It proved so successful over in America that Living TV signed up to produce a British version, the fourth series of the show is currently screening on our ...  Read the complete review
