Do you know, I still miss Brookside. It hasn't been on now for several years but I think if they brought it back tomorrow every one of their viewers would tune in again. It was one of the first programmes to be shown on Channel 4, back in 1982. Over the years it got stronger and had many contraversal storylines. I guess that had alot to do ...  Read the complete review

Who can forget Brookside, the first soap ever shown on Channel 4. This programme was set on a Liverpool housing estate, and followed all of it's residents. The show was always hard hitting, covering almost every story that you can think of. Some examples from the top of my head include murder, rape, sieges, shootings, incest, affairs, ...  Read the complete review

This was the first soap opera to be shown on channel 4 on the channels first night started back in 1982. The Brookside of the title was the close in Liverpool where all the charcters lived. There was a real mixture of characters -there were the Grants - who were on their way up in life having bought their first non council home, the ...  Read the complete review

On my travels today myself and 2 colleagues were sent to have a look at some houses on a small estate in Croxteth, Liverpool... As I turned onto a quite looking estate I scanned the sign post which simply said 'Brookeside'... as I drove into this avenue I had to park just in front of a small hut, with a barrier crossing the road into what ...  Read the complete review

I find Brookside to be absolutely impenetrable. It takes long enough to understand what they are saying what with 'Go ead yur divvy' whatever that means but even when you can understand them the storylines are so extreme there is just no credibility. I know its a soap and they have to compress everything into a small location but the ...  Read the complete review

I loved brookside it was the best thing on the tv, it was a very good soap opera with characters that seemed real. it just lost it,now axed only because the media underrated it and that channel 4 moved it time slot contuously from primetime to weekend then late night.it bowed out on november 2003 after 21 strong years on occasions peaks in ...  Read the complete review

I know Brookside has never been on a par with Eastenders or Coronation Street, but it did used to be quite good. Recently I have begun to question why I am taking time out of my busy schedule to actually watch it. My mom had watched it practically from the start, yet even she gave it up a few months ago. I stuck it out however waiting for ...  Read the complete review

Brookside for me has now become a religion rather than a simple obsession. This is a program that is based on the people of Liverpool and more precise it is located in Brookside hence the title. It features the situations that these peoples encounter and how they over come them. Brookside has now been running for over ten years and for many people ...  Read the complete review

Now I want this to be no offence to Scousers on here. Im sure there are many. Brookside is doing the great city of Liverpool no good whatsoever. It is portaying even middle-class suburbia to be full of corruption, incest, theft, gang warfare and murder to be average everyday occurences on Merseyside. Yes I know its a soap. yes I know ...  Read the complete review

I like to think of myself as an educated soap fan, I know my Mitchell's from my Sugdens, and I know the difference between the Street and the Parade. Brookside is a soap, set in Liverpool, which concentrates on the lives of the people who live in Brookside close. Brookside is well known for being on people's least favourite place to ...  Read the complete review

I was watching an episode of Brookside tonight and it got me thinking. The entire episode contained only two characters - Jimmy Corkhill and Mick Johnson. Watching this show made me realise just how good Brookie can be at times. Some people are not fans of soap episodes based completely around just a couple of characters. I am not necessarily ...  Read the complete review

I used to be addicted to soaps; I watched all bar two and loved them. But I have cut down on quite a few and one of the ones left is Brookside. I have always like Brookside and I love the character's accents, they make the programme more enjoyable (I am not making fun of Liverpool people's accents!). Brookside is set in Liverpool ...  Read the complete review

and for that matter in any of the soaps, its far too dangerous to be a soap character. Over the next couple of months Brookside is going to be at its best once again as a few of the storylines are hotting up nicely. Two in particular are obviously going to go far and the scriptwriters are having fun. The first one is the ...  Read the complete review

As an avid fan of Brookside, I can see no way out for Ron Dixon. Obnoxious as he is, he does add a real dimension to the programme. Everyone knows a 'Ron Dixon' - a loud mouth bigot who is incapable of seeing his own family for what they are - but then I suppose they are what he made them! His latest escapade can only ...  Read the complete review

I have been brought up on soaps from a very early age. Brookside is one of my favourites because they are not afraid to tackle any subjects. There are some of the subjects like drugs and incest which I haven't liked but at the end of the day it is all realistic - this is what is happening out in the big bad world. I think that they ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Unrealistic & FAB !!!! (242 words)

Brookside may not be the most realistic soap on the box by far, but it's probably the most entertaining. Yeah, loads happens every week to every character, those people's lives have had more happen to them than most of Britain put together, but I don't watch soap for real life, I go into the real world for that, or watch docusoaps as ...  Read the complete review
