I watched this programme from the first series, and for a while I thought it was great, one of my favourites. Good to escape into the gothic fantasy, you know! I usually like vampiry things too.
I reached the end of my tether with it though, after a run of episodes that I found unstomachable.
Lame sexist references by the “strong” Buffy and the others, and some story lines that were just too disturbing. So I reluctantly decided I would have to leave it. There is a tendency with programmes that have a strong female central character to introduce put downs aimed at women in general. This is of course to make sure we don’t get too much of an empowering message from the story and get too big for our boots.
I was so disappointed in it, and angry that a good series was taken from me. The past 3 weeks I have started watching it again, and so far it has been good. I am going to give it a second chance, but I do get tired of all the jokes and put-downs out there. There’s only so much you can take.

On the whole, it’s a fantastically rich and funny series with a dream-like quality, plenty of action and creatures that legends are made of.

Please Buffy- don’t let me down.
