A burn notice is when a spy is dropped by whatever agency was employing them. You bank accounts are emptied, you have no contacts and you are to stay put in whatever place the dump you. Here our hero (Michael Westen) is dumped in his own personal hell, Miami. To give you a rough idea on this program, it's like a modern day A team. The tagline for this TV show is "Spies don't get fired. They get burned." Which basically sets you up for this program called "Burn Notice". Michael Weston (Jeffrey Donovan) is a spy for the US Government (they don't say which one since both FBI and CIA are mentioned), who finds himself burned and doesn't know why or who burned him. And when a spy is burned, they are dropped somewhere with nothing - no identity, no money, nothing. Michael finds himself stuck in Miami and to survive, takes on private investigation cases while trying to get to the bottom of his being burned.
