Its strange how an advert for a chocolate bar becomes one of the cult adverts of this decade. If their is one advert that will be remembered then it will probably be this one. In my many years of television-watching, I have never seen a T.V ad as good as this. I would love to have seen the moment the person on Cadbury's marketing team thought of this idea, relaxing back in their chocolate armchair in Cadbury's headquarters just thinking until "Eureka"! A gorilla playing drums to Phil Collins, its the perfect advert for a chocolate bar! The ad starts off with the intro of Phil Collin's "In the Air Tonight" and a close-up of the gorillas eyes. Then he plays the drums in sync with Phil Collin's famous drum fill and starts playing. The only real mention of Cadburys is the purple background and a picture of their ...  Read the complete review

This advert is just genious. A gorilla playing the drums (very well) to Phil Collins' 'In the air tonight' advertising chocolate! Absolutely nothing to do with chocolate but still an effective advertising strategy. The song is key to the success of this advert. The advert starts by moving slowly across the gorillas eyes while the music begins to play. You then see the gorilla taking some deep breaths in and out with his eyes closed as if he is preparing himself for what is to come. This coincides with the start of Phil collins singing. The first time you see this advert you wonder what is going to happen next and it keeps you watching as you are intrigued by the ...  Read the complete review

I don't know if they give out the equivalent of Oscars for adverts but if they did I think this would have won one. This is an amazing advert - how anyone came up with idea I will never know. The idea is so totally off the wall. Why on earth would a gorilla decide to play "in the air tonight" which was originally made famous by Phil Collins of course. He is a very distinctive drummer anyway and to be portrayed as a gorilla must be very odd indeed. The gorilla is very human but does retain that bit of apeness about him that you don't immediate go "oh its a man in a gorilla suit" The advertising is very subtle you tend to kewep ...  Read the complete review

Every once in a while a TV advert comes along which surprises and moves the nation. I cannot remember one that had so much of an impact as this one. What is it: The advert is for Cadbury's, whenever I have watched it, it has been for the Dairy Milk bar. The advert features a drumming gorilla. What is so good then? Not since PG Tips had we seen such incredible monkey antics. The advert is sheer class. The gorilla drums along to Phil Collins' 'In The Air Tonight.' It is done with such impeccable timing though, the little pauses, as the ape stops to sniff the air before taking his drumstick and thundering down on the drums is ...  Read the complete review
