Listening to Scott Mills yesterday on Radio 1 he does a regular little segment called Oi Whats Occurring where he uses the voice sample of the fat woman from Gavin and Stacey and her catch phrase, the copetition has two people answering questions and then either a vox pop or some other way ofestablishing the right answer is used, yesterday one of the questions was "What is the Greatest ever TV advert" and I instatly thought of the Cadbury Gorilla Advert as did Colin Murray who was one of the players, amazingly none of the people on the street who had been interviewed thought so instead they came up with really weird answers which just goes to show that even the worst advert might register with people while this one which is very good clearly had not.

The advert shows a gorilla drumming expertly to some Genesis music and is far removed from the normal Cadbury advertising however it does have pretty good recognistion levels apparently and is part of a strange collection of adverts from Cadbury.

Why it has gained such cult status is difficult to say other than it is quite innovative with a recognisable main stream song and a well constructed bit of camera work.
