Since some of you asked, here is what I can say about how these stories as compared to the original are as follows: These versions seem to have taken the most essential parts of each of the original tales upon which to base their scripts, with the exception of the Wife of Bath, which is actually based on the original Wife of Bath's prologue (about her own life), and not on her tale at all. I call myself an uneducated poet, since I write poetry more instinctively without having had the benefit of any formal education in poetry. As such, I am ashamed to say that I've never read Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. (UPDATE: This is no longer the case - see more update, below.) But being an avid fan of BBC dramas, when I saw the previews of this six-part mini-series, I knew I had to move hell or high water to see it!
