Advantages: No strong language, very sharp wit

Disadvantages: No recent new material

I was never a fan of Jasper Carrott until a few years ago, when the first series of 'The Detectives' in which he starred as inept CID officer, with Robert Powell as his equally inept partner was screened on BBC1.

Around the same time, BBC1 also repeated some of his earlier stand up comedy shows, from the 1980s and early 1990s. Carrott Confidential was one of these.

The humour is razor sharp, but unlike many comedians oftoday, Jasper Carrott does not rely on bad language to get his point across. Some of his jokes may be a little near to the mark, but mostly, would just go right over the heads of children if they were watching.

Jasper Carrott is far from politically correct, but if that doesn't bother you, then he's definitely a good comedian to watch. Unfortunately, he hasn't done any new TV work for a while, and people seem to have forgotten about him somewhat, which is a shame. I always watch Jasper Carrott when he's on TV now, even if it's not a stand up show, and hopefully he'll do some new TV material soon.
