Cash in the Attic

Description: BBC1 / Lifestyle / How to turn your attic into a treasure!

Newest Review: ... it clear that it wasn't to be, and they instead started to hound our poor neighbour, who reluctantly agreed to do it! Our "expert" was Jonty - probably the most famous of the ones they have on this show - although his expertise wasn't that shiny when it came down to it! Basically what happened was, they asked my mum to get all her valuable stuff and put it on the kitchen table. ... more

... Then the production assistant asked my mum everything she knew about the items and took notes. These notes were passed to Jonty, and the the items were hidden around the house! I hate to spoil it for you, but I think you probably know this is what happens...more

My mother appeared on Cash in the Attic several years ago, during a period where I was back living with her. Therefore my review will be an "inside eye" on how the programme is put together! For those who have not seen it, the programme's premise is that an expert looks at all the junk in your house, identifies gems to go to auction, and then you all troop off to the sale and watch the pounds roll in! Supposedly... The production crew turned up at our house about a week prior to filming, in order to set up camera angles and plan things out with my mum. They suggested she got a professional cleaner in, which I found hilarious...until I was ...  Read the complete review

I caught this programme on TV when I was off work ill. It is a daytime tv show that has been in air since 2002 and is now into its 14th series. There have been a variety of "presenters" who are more like narrators as they talkover the things happening on TV. Ben Fogle and Gloria Hunniford are a few of the "presenters" in recent years who tell you what is going on as the show progresses. The idea of the show is the BBC team goes to someones house and has a rummage around. It isn't just about the attic as the title could indicate. They basically go along with alleged antiques experts and point out all thie nic-nacks and things ...  Read the complete review

This si one of the daytime delicacies which is provided by the BBC for our Daytime viewing. The series has had a number of different presenters over the years from Lorne Spicer to Angela Rippon and even Jennie Bond. The idea of the show is that someone has an amount of money they wish to raise for aspecific purpose, new car, holiday, painting the house and they have lots of antiques that they want to get rid of. The resident expert then goes around the house and finds items they believe would sell at auction and then they give them an estimate. The householder decides if they want to sell them and then when they have found enough items ...  Read the complete review

Cash in the Attic is one of those strange shows that popped up in the wake of the 'groundbreaking' Bargain Hunt, which seemed to show that daytime telly audiences seem to have an insatiable appetite for auction shows. The premise is simple, Doris and Betty want to go on a holiday to Brighton but want a bit of spending money to go to the bingo halls with. Cue our telly crew to crawl round the house finding anything of value worth flogging. A target is set and then as soon as they have enough items of value they bring them down to the auction house and see if they get enough or if they just fall short.....will Doris and Betty have enough to go with or will it be ...  Read the complete review
