Advantages: people watching

Disadvantages: waiting months for the next update

The idea of dropping a bunch of people on a remote island and letting them fend for themselves is great but sadly the programme hasn't quite lived up to my expectations. The main reason being that they haven't exactly had to fend for themselves with boats bring supplies including alcohol and cigarettes (I can't remember Robinson Crusoe having that luxury).
Programmes like this bring out the best and worst in people, I think that's what makes them compulsive viewing. Yes it's great to see people helping each other and pulling together but once again, like Big Brother, it has also shown what a bunch of complaining, bickering, backstabbing and petty individuals these people have become. Quite a few of the castaways have left the island, not because they found it hard or the life style too much but because they felt forced out by other members. Personally I think the group has split into three sections, the younger residents, the older residents and the ones that just can't or won't be allowed to fit in. I find it sad that as people we cannot accept others as they are and be more tolerant.
My other big gripe is the BBC's scheduling. Why do we have a week of "Castaway" and then nothing for a couple of months? Why not have a weekly update, or is life on Taransey just so dull and boring that they need three months of film to make four half-hour episodes?
