Advantages: Long running, realistic drama

Disadvantages: Long breaks each year.

Casualty depicts life in a busy A&E department in Holby city (a ficticious place).

Its been shown on BBC for many more years than I care to remember, and I have enjoyed
every episode I have seen.

Over the years cast members have come and gone, some are still present from the original series - notably Charlie, old fans may well remember his old jacket - he bought a new one the other week!

The story lines are a mix of per-episode medical A&E drama both inside and outside of the department, with some longer running plot story lines to keep viewers hooked over the weeks.

Sqeamish persons may not like some of the medical action, but as far as I have heard over the years it is actually realistically portrayed.

Occasionally casualty will have a famous actor/actress play a small part, which is a unexpected bonus, and some of the episodes can be very moving.

I have found over the years, that there are usually one or two episodes that go a little silly, usually around christmas time they have in the past had the odd miracle or too, or ghostly type occurance, which although watchable, is just plain silly really.

I recommend this show to anyone who likes a good drama, and if your sqeamish, just close your eyes during the few moments of gore, its worth it so you see the rest of the show!

Remember too, its not a show that is designed for you to like in a single episode, its a long running show!

Great op. Unfortunately I still think nothing can beat ER!

Great opinion. I too confess my addition. I agree that the writers create a good balance. Realistic and yet you are aware of the fictious nature. I think you can sometimes guess the pattern though, who will die etc.

I have not seen that programme, thankfully (i dont like watching the making of type progs, as it does spoil things)

I agree with you though about its addictivness!
Thanks for your comment, fellow addict!
