One of my favourite shows ever! (Casualty)

Advantages: It's brilliant! Disadvantages: It's incredibly predictable but that's part of its charm Casualty is a medical drama made for the BBC and has been running for over 20 years. It is set in Holby and follows the private and professional lives of the staff of an Accident and Emergency department. Episodes often start with a scene set away from the hospital providing a backstory for the soon-to-be patients. These scenes are usually wonderfully predictable so you can guess from the beginning of the episode which character will be lying on a hospital bed at the end! There are people climbing up rickety ladders and driving whilst talking on a mobile all over the place. Sharing equal focus with these hapless characters are the lives of the doctors and nurses themselves. Charlie Fairhead has been a main character in the show for so long now that I wouldn't think twice about letting him perform a minor medical procedure on me. This aspect of the show is like a soap opera with numerous affairs, scandals, suicide attempts, assaults, rows and drunken liaisons. There are a number of great characters in the show such as the socially awkward Dr Ruth Winters, the paramedic double act Dixie and Jeff and the clumsy Dr Toby De Silva. Summary: Great British drama |
