The new series of Casualty has just finished, but it will be back in the autumn on BBC1 on Saturday's at 8:10pm.

Casualty, as the name suggests is a programme surrounding the events in a Accident & Emergency Department, namely the one in Holby General, Holby City.

Each week the programme follows the lives and loves of the staff..

Charlie Fairhead has been in the series from the start, at the end of last season he was involved in the cliffhanger as he had a heart attack alone in some closed toilets, but after a break convalescing he is now back. He has now had to stand by while his ex wife Baz has moved to Canada and taken his son Louis with him. He is becoming increasing disillusioned with the politics in the hospital.

Holly, a fairly new doctor who sometimes cares a little too much. She is becoming more and attracted to Dr Patrick Spiller whom she knows from university, but he is very brash and will not admit his feelings to Holly. She has played a major part in the last half of the series, and she was the victim of a stalker, who turned out to be a deranged colleague.

Josh, the paramedic who lost his wife and children in a house fire a couple of years ago and took up gambling to cope. He is now embarking on a relationship with Colette, an A&E nurse.

The characters are well rounded and interesting, and each week 2 or 3 stories regarding members of the public and how they end up in A&E are shown.

An interesting, well acted series, I never miss it and now there is a spin off called Holby City which is based in the same hospital but on the wards, and although not as good it is still good viewing.
