Advantages: Good Saturday night TV
Disadvantages: A bit predictable
This is a drama series about the staff and patients at Holby General Hospital's emergency department, following the ups and downs in their personal and professional lives. The show has close ties to its sister programme Holby City which began as a spin off from Casualty.
I must admit to not watching earlier seasons of casualty but as my wife always followed the show I have ended up being a regular viewer, and I must say I now enjoy it. I like the fact that although there are long running story lines the show generally gets through a plot in each episode making it easy to follow without it taking over your life once a week, if we miss an odd one which isn't often, you can pick it back up pretty quickly.
I am told it is the longest running emergency medical drama series in the world; it was first broadcast in 1986. The only longer medical drama in the world is America's General Hospital.
The show is currently broadcast on BBC1 on a Saturday evening normally around 8-9 o'clock dependent on what other programs BBC are broadcasting at the time.
Hope this helps
It can be a bit predictable but is fun to guess who is going to end up having an accident and how as you get a good feeling for what's coming up, but they are clever enough to completely throw you at times.
What i find very impressive is that they run the show nearly every week which must make plot writing very difficult when looking for new story lines.
Summary: Not alot better on on a Saturday evening
