Advantages: Classic Format
Disadvantages: No Roy, No Mr. Chips
Why bring him back. Well the show has been his for nigh on 14 years and with Mr. Chips the show was the Roy Walker Show. He has now gone and has been replaced by some young upstart that goes by the name of Nick Weir. He simply does not know or care about the show and it's history and The Man that is Catchphrase, Roy Walker. The format has remained relativel yunchanged. Two contestants solving picture puzzles representing a phrase or saying. Now the faster they get it right, the more money they win. The next stage is the 'Bonus' section where the contestant has five seconds to guess the answer. Then the overall winner gets a go on the Prize Grid, a 5 x 5 puzzle grid and has 60 seconds to win the star prize. Now without Roy, there are no idealisitc comebacks for some of the really dumb guesses. No calming Irish tones coming from the grey haired man behind the quizmaster's pulpit. All that we get now is the Crest sparkle for this Nick Guy as he stands there and smiles sweetly for the camera. Well, all I can say is I hope that this programm is laid to rest before it gets stoned

- 28/06/01 Roy Walker was Catchphrase. Why did they get rid of him? "It's good but it's not right" |
