This year (2015) I have been a fan of celebrity big brother. It has incredibly controversial characters within the house and characters that clash deeply and this makes for good arguments, good debates and good clashes all making up great and trashy tv.
However I have not felt this way about this programme every year and albeit I enjoy watching celebrity big brother purely for the mcabre view of seeing celebrities being locked in a house and hearing their conversations and psychological traumas each year varies totally dependant by whom is in the house. Some years can be incredibly boring and dull, it just so happens this year has a great array of clashing personalities and this makes for good viewing.
This is trash tv however. Tv that if you have an active mind, such as myself its good to curl up at the end of the day and sit and laugh and watch and simply switch off from reality. This is what trash tv is about though. Some years this programme makes it sometimes it doesnt.
The house changes style and decor each year and for those of you who dont know it, its a house which has cameras in it 24 hours a day recording and watching each movement and word from the celebrities who are confined there for approx 3 weeks. They eat, drink, sleep and generally live together and every other day or so they have house tasks to do which allow them to win better shopping budgets for food or a party to enjoy.
The house is brutal though and because it is so confined with a large amount of people, personalities clash and become irate and there is nearly always someone having a psychological meltdown, this again is tragic but makes for good viewing.
Overall trash tv, sometimes good sometimes bad, but purely dependant on whose in there.
This is the celebrity version of the hit reality TV show Big Brother, love it or hate it you can't deny it's been a massive success for over 10 years.
The celebrity series doesn't differ too much from regular series but it usual runs in January for just 3 weeks or so, and recently a summer version has aired after the main version.
It locks up 10 to about 14 celebrities in a house for a few weeks and films them 24/7 with their ups & downs, chats, arguments, they do tasks for food and the public vote to evict them after which the winner wins money for their chosen charity but all the celebrities get paid for going into the house unlike the normal civilian version (they get an allowance I believe)
I like seeing the real person behind the celebrity persona and it real is gripping television, seeing celebrities be themselves is a nice touch and some of them you find out actually are real genuine people, but then some of them you realise are absolute morons.
I look forward to it every year and I am sat watching it now
Much as I hate to admit it, I am a big brother fan. And celebrity big brother is great as it gives you a chance to see what "famous" people are like in real life (and I use the term famous loosely as most of these celebrities are lower than z-list!). Most of the contestants are has-beens and are desperate to cling on to any shreds of fame that may be lingering in the hope they'll be offered a fantastic new career opportunity when they leave the house. This is rather amusing in some cases as it's unbelievable what some people will do to be famous.
It follows the same basis as normal big brother - basically they are filmed constantly for their entire stay in the house and have to participate in weekly tasks and events to gain prizes or funds for food. I have to say that I only really watch the 1 hour show each night as watching it live is infuriatingly irritating with everything they're saying blurred out with bird song recordings. And watching someone sleep on tv is not really my idea of good viewing.
OK, yes it is complete trash tv and it really doesn't have a point to it either. Most people on this you will never hear of again and probably wont want to hear of again either. But it is strangely addictive, perhaps for all the wrong reasons that a tv show should be. I think it's time the show stopped as there is not much more they could do with it but I will secretly miss it I think! Shh, don't tell anyone!
Celebrity Big Brother 2010
This being the last year of Celebrity Big Brother it meant I paid more attention to it. Usually it is a house packed full of celebrities I don't know who are not being themselves so they can further their career. I do admit I watched it a lot this year due to boredom and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
The format is exactly the same as the ordinary Big Brother where people have to do tasks to get money for food or treats. Also they have the secret tasks which people have to do to make idiots out of themselves. They still had to nominate in the diary room. There were the usual surprises of additional housemates and people leaving without having the chance to say goodbye.
My favourite quirk this year was the tree of temptation getting the housemates to do secret tasks so they could get treats. It was particularly funny Alex kicking the snowman and Vinnie being all emotional so he could get a chance to watch football.
I have to admit I feel the show really has come to an end people know the exposure it gets and they use it to their advantage. Its not really the way the show started out all them years ago. Game plans are always played and only for Big Brother pulling a few stunts and pranks now and again I think it would be boring to watch.
This year I knew about half the celebrities who went into the house. This is more than I usually would have known before. A lot of them where from America but they did tend to get voted out earlier than the celebrities from the UK.
These are the contestants who have already been voted out:
* Lady Sovereign was one of the younger contestants who is known for her musical career. Apparently she is big in America I've never heard of her. I have to admit she seemed moody and just plain awkward and spoilt while she was in the house.
* Sisqo was the biggest surprise for me when he entered the house, as he was rather big when I was younger as an R'n'B artist with the 'Thong Song'. He seemed to be an alright fellow but after a row when drunk he was voted out.
* Katia is known for being Ronnie Woods ex-girlfriend. She had a fling with Jonas and to be honest she seemed like a stupid bimbo. I think she was playing Jonas pretending she liked him to get more attention. She could have used the opportunity of going into the house to be herself but instead she just attached herself to someone else. So she is still known, as someone's other half.
* Ivana Trump was married to Donald Trump and is a very wealthy lady. I didn't know who she was before entering but I did know Donald. She seemed to live in her own little world but was a graceful lady.
* Nicola T was known for being a Page 3 girl and she made out she was all nice but had another side to her.
* Heidi Fleiss is famous for running a prostitution ring. All she ever did was sleep and moan. To be honest I don't think she should have ever been on the show its not something you would want to publicise you were famous for.
* Stephen Baldwin who is a well-known actor from America. I have to say I though he was his brother when he went into the house but this may be because I know him better. All he done was preach about God which annoyed the housemates. They did find him likeable even though he annoyed them
The remaining housemates are still in the house and you will find out tonight who wins!
* Stephaine Beacham to me was known for acting in Coronation Street as Ken Barlow's love affair. What I didn't know was that she has appeared in lots of films and television shows. For those who watched Strictly Come Dancing she was in this as well. She has come across to me as a mixed personality as she has a lovely side to her but she can be very abrupt and can seem snobby at times.
* Alex Reid has hit the papers a lot recently before going into the Big Brother house just for being Jordan's boyfriend. The media he had received before wasn't really the greatest making him look stupid and silly. I have to say since watching him in the Big Brother house I still feel he is slightly dopey but he seems to have a nice genuine side to him. He acts just like a big kid! Out of all of the contestants I probably would want him to win.
* Vinnie Jones a notorious footballer who went on to do some acting. He is a big legend in everyone's eyes so everyone respects him in the house. To be honest I find him very domineering and bossy. He likes to be in control of everything. He hasn't really done himself many favours going onto the show in my eyes.
* Jonas (aka Basshunter) is a singer and has a dance hit called 'Now your gone'. He had a fling with Katia while she was in the house and I think he really did like her. Overall he comes across quite annoying to live with and immature. To me he acts like your little brother.
* Dane Bowers is known for being a singer. I knew him straight away and everyone thought there would be rows between him and Alex as he used to go out with Jordan. Dane seems quite and sits on the fence. He doesn't seem to annoy anyone but I think he's sneaky in the background.
++ OVERALL ++
I feel that this show has come to an end and at least they have gone out with a bang. This year was entertaining I enjoyed watching it. It does get repetitive and no matter how much they try to revamp the show it still ends up the same.
Celebrity big brother has taken over our screens once again. It is that yearly occurance, which is the only thing that can perk me up after Christmas! Celebrity big brother runs in January and lasts three weeks. This year 2010, is going to be its last year, which I think has upset lots of people now as they have realised how good this series actually is. IN an interview with Davina on radio one earlier last week she was asked why she thought so many people were loving CBB this year and she claimed that it was becuase the celebrities were actually acting like they were enjoying being in there and wanted to see out the duration of it, where as in other years they repeat over and over again how they are only in it for the money.
As soon as Christmas is over the tabloids become full of stories and rumours of who is going into the CBB house. For once the tabloids are often right and can accurately predict who is going in, not everyone, but a fair few.
This year there were 11 celebrities entering instantly and one to follow later, and it is always around that number every year. The show follows the same format as the normal big brother, except it only lasts for three weeks, and contains people who the world already know a lot about (unless they are like non existant celebrities, which does often happen!)
Big brother, to entertain the viewing public, twists the celebrities up and winds them up against each other tyring to cause trouble, drama and arguments. This can be in the form of tasks, bribes, manipulation or anything big brother choses to do. This famously backfired one year, when a race row erupted in the house when Jade Goody was accused of being racist and a few of the other celebrities were accused of bullying.
As in normal big brother the celebrities nominate each other which becomes a shortlist, from which the public can vote out their most hated celebrities. In lots of years celebrities walk early from the show, but this year (2010) noone has done so so far.
I really enjoy CBB it takes over my TV screens every year. I think the only way to improve it is to get more famous celebrities in there, but obviously the budget constraints are there, so that wouldnt always be possible.
As the New Year started, I was back to work, skint and a few pounds heavier following the festive season. The evenings became a TV-fest and I thought that I would give this year's CBB a go.
The most recognisable celebs were Vinnie Jones, Stephanie Beacham and Stephen Baldwin (what happened - he was so cool in Usual Suspects). As one of my guilty pleasures are the occasional weekly celeb magazines, I did know who Alex Reid (Jordan's on/off boyfriend who has grown on me) and Dane Bowers (a Jordan-ex from her early years). I only knew of Sisqo through 'Thong-Song' and had no clue of Lady Sov, Nicola, the Rolling-Stone ex or the Basshunter chap.
Lots of the press state that most of the house-mates cannot be called 'celebrities', but you are never going to get Beyonce and Brad Pitt in the house, but people like Alex Reid and his relationship with Jordan certainly make the press a lot of money.
It all started off quite well - Vinnie assuming the alpha-male role in the house (would not have expected anything less), Stephanie and the late-entrant Ivana Trump being the glam-grans of the show and doing, what I thought, was a sterling job in the Care Home task.
We have had a bit of romance (Rolling Stone ex, Kat and Basshunter chap, Jonas, who is actually quite funny) there have been arguments - Lady Sov and most the house, Vinnie throwing his toys out the pram when Sisqo dare to bad-mouth him during a drunken session. Lady Sov went into spoilt brat mode and could not understand why only doing things for herself e.g. washing her own plate, was selfish. There has been something to suit everyone.
Last year it was decided that 2010 was to be the final year of Big Brother - both the public version and the celebrity one, but I think it would be great to still keep the celebrity one going. CBB is not high-brow and it is not meant to stretch your grey matter - it is easy to watch, throw away TV to satisfy the voyeur in you - perfect for the New Year.
So it it'll all be over after this series.
I have to say I have never been that interested in Big Brother or Celebrity Big Brother and have watched a few episodes which have trailed off to nothing.
This year however I have been totally engrossed and have the series on my V+ planner and enjoy sitting down each night to watch the action.
Celebrities might be a bit ambitious though I have to say, the only people I recognised were Vinnie Jones, Dane Bowers and Alex Reid.
Basically the show is about a bunch of "Celebrities" who all live together and are given luxuries and then made to live off basics on the word of 'Big Brother.' They have no contact with anyone outside the house and are left there for 3 weeks and have to participate in challenges and nominations. Someone is evicted every few days/weeks until the final where everyone goes out and a winner is crowned. Athough it sounds ridiculous it is rather entertaining and things can be funny and personalities clash and so on and you get to understand who the people ACTUALLY are and not just the image they are portrayed as by the media.
I think after 10 years the novelty has worn off and it should end before it dies - although it could be argued it died years ago.
For me the funniest part f the show so far was when the "Tree Of Temptation" spoke to Dane and he had to pretend to have a nightmare in the middle of the night and get a sympathy hug in order to retrieve a key stolen by the previous housemate to exit the house. He succeeded and the actually time when he acted the scream was hilarious, I also have to say Alex Reid (Jordan/Katie Prices' boyfriend) jumped up with his fists raised has to be the funniest thing I've seen in a while!
All in all Big Brother is a good laugh at times and it is interesting to watch events unfold etc but I am in a way glad it is ending this year.
I haven't watched much of this series of Celebrity Big Brother because I've got proper bored of the whole Big Brother thing, this one is the last Celeb version though so I've been putting it on a bit more than usual because I thought Channel 4 might make it a bit memorable somehow to go out with a bang.
They've not bothered though and it's got the same boring tired feel as it's had for years, none of the celebs are very interesting either and I couldn't believe that they thought it was a good idea to have a celebrity PROSTITUTE in there this year!!! LOL Yeah, Heidi Fleiss was quite comical but when do hookers count as celebs???
The idea of it is that 10 (or is it 12??? lol) celebrities all live together in the Big Brother house, they don't have any contact with the outside world and have to do what Big Brother tell them. They don't have to spend as much time in the house as the normal Big Brother but I bet they still get madly bored because there are only so many egos you can listen to even if you're a celeb!!!
This year my fave 2 have been Vinnie Jones and for some reason that Russian woman who got booted out, I can't even remember her name and that's how much impact she had one me! lol The one who went out with Ronnie Wood, I quite liked her even though she's not really a celebrity because she's got a bit of a fragile and panicked look. I hope Vinnie wins but that's only because he's the only one out of all of them that I know much about!
They've had to do some tasks such as Ivana Trump and that horsey page 3 model being live models for the rest of the housemates to paint. Loads of respect to Ivana stripping off at her age, but because she's a mega rich woman I can't understand her bothering being in the house at all.
Alex Reid has been loads better than I thought, in case your wondering he's Jordans bloke but I reckon he's come across well and will stop letting her run his life now that people know him in his own right. I LOVE the fact that he's not constantly talking about her because I bet she wants him to be! pmsl!
I can't say how much of this series I'll end up watching, if there's something better on I'll watch that instead and I can't be arsed with Big Brothers Little Brother and all that crap.
I'm glad it's at an end because I'm sick of all these non celebs walking round the house like they're the most important people in the world!
Not recommended..... it's boooooooooring!!!
Finally the last ever season of celebrity big brother, i am genuinely so excited.
When the program first hit the channel 4 many moons ago i did love both big brother and the celebrity big brother version but these days i really cant stand it.
Enough is enough come on channel 4 you had your moneys worth out of the idea now drop it and come up with a new show as this is just plain old boring now!!!
The so called celebrities that go in the house are not even really celebrities any more are they? i mean come on the majority of them are has beens.
Look at this season we have sisqo or how ever you spell his name, he had 1 hit years ago and nobody as heard from him or seen him since, how is he classed as a celebrity.
Do us all a favour channel four and get a new idea for a new show as were all just plain bored of the same old big brother year in year out.
Celebrity Big Brother has been running for a number of years now. However last summer, Chanel 4 announced that the latest series -that started on the third of January - would be the last.
For those that have been living under a rock for the whole of the noughties, I will explain what Celebrity Big Brother is. Basically, a number of 'celebrities' enter a locked house for a four week period. They eat, drink and sleep in the house and they compete in tasks to try and gain a luxury food budget. At the end of each week they each go to the diary room and privately nominate two of their fellow celebrities for eviction. The celebrities that have the most votes go head to head and the pubic votes who they want to be evicted.
Davina McCall hosts the show and she interviews evictees when they leave the house, making sure that she asks the questions that we all want the answers to. The thing that amazes me about Davina is that she is as passionate about Big Brother as she was ten years ago. She reminds me of Noel Edmonds presenting Deal or no Deal, the format may be tired, but she makes each show and series seem exciting and innovative.
I must admit, I have been a fan of Big Brother from the beginning - it just seems to draw me in, year upon year. However, as much as I like the normal Big Brother, Celebrity Big Brother was always my favourite and I was gutted when I heard it was being cut. I thought to myself - "why can they just keep Celebrity BB."
I was initially quite excited when I heard Davina McCall say that this year's line up was the best yet and people you wouldn't expect to have signed up have because it is the last ever series. However personally I think last year's line up was much better and fast forward eleven days and I've realised why the show has to end, it really has run its course.
In this year's house we have hard man Vinnie Jones, veteran actress Stephanie Beacham and American actor Stephan Baldwin. We also have Katie Price's latest love interest (Alex Reid), Katie Price's ex love interest Dane Bowers, some Russian called Katia who is famous for braking up Ronnie Wood's marriage, ex Olympic athlete and ex-wife of Donald - Ivana Trump and Heidi Fleiss, who made a living out of sleeping with famous people in LA. There are also a few others in there, a page three girl, a few singers that have brought out the odd song...
Last night, in the house they were all discussing the odds on them each winning and talking about camera time. It is obvious they are all in there for a reason - to raise their profile, to get more work, or to improve the public's perception, but Big Brother wasn't introduced for that reason, it was supposed to be about human interaction and reaction, not acting up for self gain.
Although I will miss Big Brother it has definitely had its day... enough is enough, personally I don't want to see any more people that are 'famous' because of who they sleep with on my television screen.
I hate that I absolutely love Celebrity Big Brother!!! It's cool to finally see what these people are like behind closed doors. Even if some of the "celebrities" I have never seen or heard of before.
Heidi Fleiss is a quality character in the show and I really hope she doesn't get voted out. She tells it like it is, she doesn't want attention like the rest of them and most of the time her moaning about people is spot on. I don't want to mention something about everyone in the house but Vinnie also needs a mention. He is just as great, I heard he's the favourite to win. No wonder! He is hilarious and doesn't beat around the bush.
The tasks that big brother is setting for the housemates have been great so far and I can't wait to see all the other tasks! I love that it's not scripted and can't wait for Ivana to go crazy without her diamonds....hehe!!!
I have always been a big fan of Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother but agree with the popular opinion that these have both been going downhill from the start as the contestants are more and more mercenary and see it as a game show, a chance for public recognition and money.
This year's contestants are
Stephen Baldwin, the youngest and least famous Baldwin brother who has found God and insists on telling everyone all about it at every opportunity.
Nicola T, a page 3 model and WAG (possibly ex- both of those things) who I recognised from the old WAG's boutique programme and seems 'nice but dim' to coin a phrase. I think she's looking for a change of career.
Alex someone, Jordan's cage fighting, cross dressing new boyfriend who out-jaffas David Dickinson on the fake tan scale. I disliked him immediately for all of those reasons but he actually seems alright and about the only person who can keep a sensible conversation going in there. Doing it to adress the public's negative perception of him.
Stephanie Beacham, 'classy' actress who is finding things a little strange in there but OK so far.
Lady Sovereign, British rapper famous in the States. She's young and quiet so will have to see if she comes out of her shell.
Sisqo, American singer famous for the Thong Song. Been quite quiet so far with some funny moments.
Katia someone, went out with Ronnie Wood so a true celebrity then! Has a boyfriend but sleeping in the same bed as Basshunter - make her favourite to be first out, the floozy.
Basshunter, he's made at least one dance tune and is Swedish. Not much too him
Heidi Fleiss, ex- Hollywood madam, went to prison for 3 years for it and is now out and earning money from her launderette and going on every celebrity reality show going from the sounds of it.
Dane Bowers, used to be in some boy band. Also used to go out with Jordan which they tried to hype up when they went in but noone was really bothered.
Vinnie Jones, ex footballer and now Hollywood movie star, apparently he's made over 50 films. He keeps saying that he wants to be evicted so presumably has gone in just for the money, guess he spent all his earnings from his acting then?
Ivana Trump, just gone in as the new celebrity but not made a very good impression so far.
I don't think there's going to be any big excitement here and think that Channel 4 are right to drop the show, but its something to watch on a dreary winter's evening if you're that way inclined.
Another year of celebrity big brother and another year of no mark celebrities. As an self confessed lover of heat magazine, I can't believe that even I haven't heard of half of them!
This years line up includes nicola T (who?), basshunter, dane bowers (is he still around?), Jordan's ex- cagefighting boyfriend and lady sovereign. It is a crying shame when the biggest celebrity by far is Stephen Baldwin (although surely the least famous baldwin brother) and Vinnie Jones.
However by far the worst celebrity is Ronnie Wood's ex-girlfriend. At least Jordan's ex is a top cage fighter - what exactly does this girl do? In her word "nothing much" and I was in a public relationship". Ok there was a 40 year age difference but really - who cares.
I have to admit I am a closte big brother fan but this is ridiculous even for me! Thank god it is tghe last year!
I cannot believe this is the last year we are going to have Big Brother on our television, I have been a big fan of the original reality show ever since it began back in 2000 and although there has been some good and bad series' I will miss watching it next year when it is not on our screens. Although I have watched all of the Big Brother series' I haven't always watched the Celebrity version, I saw the year non-celebrity Chantelle one and the year Jade Goody got herself into trouble but I haven't seen every one. With this year being the last one I thought I would tune in and watch.
Celebrity Big Brother is essentially the same as the normal big brother apart from the fact the contestants are 'celebrities' and they only go in the house for about a month compared to the three months of Big Brother. Celebrity Big Brother (or CBB as I will call it) is always on in January and involves a group of people living together in a house with no contact with the outside world; no mobile phones, no lap tops, no radio, they're totally cut off from the world. They are even banned from writing material so they cannot write any messages to the outside world. I think with the chaos the weather is causing our country at the moment maybe a month spent in a house cut off from the world is not such a bad thing.
Once inside the house the contestants are left to entertain themselves and get to know one another. This usually involves everyone being really nice to one another at the beginning but after a while the arguements and bitching begin start. There is often the odd romance with previous winner of CBB Chantelle marrying Preston who she met on the show.
As with all Big Brother shows you get the diary room where the celebrities get the opportunity to talk to Big Brother and discuss how they are feeling. This year the diary room has a waltzer in it. Another feature of every Big Brother are the tasks, they must complete tasks in order to win treats and to get money for the weekly shop.
After the celebs have been in the house about a week or 10 days they will start to get put up for eviction. Each person will have to nominate and the people with the most nominations will get put up for eviction with the public voting off who will leave. Eventually there will be a 3 or 4 people left for the final night with one being crowned the winner.
The thing which is annoying abouy CBB is that usually the people in there are not real celebrities. This year for example is a house full of people who are not really that famous, Alex Reid being the most obvious, famous for who he dates. As well as the Russian girl who went out with Ronnie Wood, since when did dating somebody famous make you a celeb?
Even though the celebrities are not exactly 'A' list I will still be watching and hope it will make entertaining viewing. Already reckon Vinnie Jones will be the winner, why else did bosses pay him so much money?
Stick a load of celeb's in a house, brim it with mic's and camera's, and see what they get up too. It's such a simple idea, only a genious could have thought of it! As crazy as it sounds, once you get into it, it is actually proper entertaining. You get to see the people that have always been in the public eye, the things they do, the stuff they say. A lot of people are quick to dismiss Big Brother as just more trash on our TV screens without even giving it a fair chance. To the critics out there, it's no good just watching one episode and branding it rubbish. You need to watch a couple, get to know the true personalities of the celeb's in there, and then try and predict who is going to have a conflict with who. Let's face it. 7 weeks, 1 house, and a load of celeb's... Conflict is inevitable, and it's the contraversy that surrounds this that makes it intresting! Go on. Give it a chance, and I don't just mean at 10pm tonight. I mean at 10pm tonight, tommorow night, and the next night. Then come on here and write your review!
