I admit I love Big Brother, the normal people version and the celebrity version, but I think the humiliation factor involved in the celebrity version makes it better watching than the "joe public" series.

I think it's fair to say, like with I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, the majority of celebrities that partake have careers that are heading down the toilet. Not all though, there are always a couple who go on these shows to either prove they can do something other than what they are famous for and others who seem to do it just for the fun aspect.

What makes the celebrity version better than the "nobodies" version is the fact the public are eternally fascinated by celebrities and their lifestyles. It's much more interesting if a celebrity reveals something about themselves that we didn't know than someone we've never heard of. Naturally the producers at Channel 4 have the final say in what we see so there's bound to be some juicy tidbits of gossip we don't get to hear but the few we do make it worth watching.

Celebrities should be used to cameras, even celebrities whose careers are on the skids have usually spent a great deal of years in front of cameras with PR gurus telling them their every word and move but every year some of them seem to forget the cameras in the Big Brother house can hear every word they say! Or perhaps without PR people to help them they don't know how to behave or what to say!

But the best aspect of Celebrity Big Brother has got to be the tasks. While the entire group are still in the house there are always 3 tasks that I love to watch! The first is the most famous line up. Here the celebrities have to organise themselves in a line from most famous to least famous and stand on a podium at their level of famousness. Brilliant! The fake humble behaviour from the majority while they yearn to be placed on the most famous podium is classic big brother!

The second one is the first set of nominations. This varies in how it's done but the puffed up looks of self-importance and disbelief from those nominated to face the public vote first is very entertaining. Not to mention the inflated egos that are positive their fans will save them.

My absolute favourite task in the early days of Celebrity Big Brother though has got to be the talent show. This is where the celebrities have to do a performance using the talents that made them famous. Although they are used to performing their Big Brother performance is without any electronic magic to make them sound or look better. Fine if you're one of the politicians who often grace Big Brother or even if you're an actor or actress but what if you make your living singing?

The singers are the ones I really want to see do this task! Without help some amaze me with the complete lack of talent they have! Admittedly some are genuinely talented but many aren't and it makes me cringe for them because even if they are blissfully unaware once they've demonstrated their lack of talent the rest of the housemates and the millions watching aren't! Pure brilliance!

Does Celebrity Big Brother revive ailing careers? No it doesn't seem so but the catty ego-induced arguments, displays of a lack of talent and snippets of celebrity gossip make it compulsive viewing!

This year I'm sure we'll see the loudest celebrities argue, typical Big Brother "food wars", bitching and backstabbing, tasks that make us cringe with glee and another batch of hopefuls released into a world that isn't any different to when they went in the house.

It's brilliant television!
