Celebrity Big Brother, in theory, combines two of my favourite hobbies and likes. These are reality TV, particularly Big Brother, and watching celebrities. So, with this in mind, Celebrity Big Brother should be my perfect TV show, but for so many reasons it is not.

Firstly let me say, I like the idea of watching celebrities expose themselves for who, or what, they really are for our viewing pleasure, but with the possible exception of 1 or 2 contestants, I don't class these as celebrities. they are reletively unknown people in the grand scheme of the celebrity world and therefore generate very little interest in my household.

To make a show of this kind truly work it needs to be much longer than a month. The main summer show lasts almost 4 months and it really gets good when the cracks start to appear after 6-8 weeks. The celebrity version does not achieve the same level of argumentative and irrational TV because they know they will be out very soon.

This version of the show, now on every winter with the exception of it missing a year down to Jade Goody's racist episode against Shulpa Sheti, seems to go a lot easier on the contestants than the main summer show does and that to me is to the detrement of us watching. Things need to be stirred up regularly, celebrity or no celebrity.

After the poor show that was on only last month, won by Ulrika Johnson, I have decided that, should there be anther outing next year, I will not be watching. I will instead stick to the summer version which, although far from being as good as Big Brother 1 and 2, is still infinetily better than this.

the only way I would watch next year is if the celebrities involved turn out to be true stars in this day and age instead of fading stars and young random wannabees.

Avoid at all costs.
