Advantages: Great charity work, helped to raise awareness of various causes

Challenge Anneka was a programme screened in the late 1980 and early 1990s, featuring Anneka Rice. Each week, she was given a challenge to complete. The challenges were always for charitable causes. Some challenges include renovating a homeless hostel, organising a skiing trip for the disabled, renovating the playground at Birmingham Children's Hospital and creating a new Mencap Nursery. To complete the challenges, Anneka had to ask for other organisations help. This included obtaining building materials, toys, food and other expertise. A huge Challenge Anneka lorry would travel across the country, and Anneka also had a buggy that she sometimes drove in.

Maybe the most memorable challenge was to rennovate a Romanian orphanage. It was very upsetting seeing the conditions that these children had to live in. The job that Anneka and her team did in this episode was terrific and all involved deserve tremendous acclaim for this.

Challenge Anneka did return in 2006 and 2007 for 2 special editions on ITV1, but has not been aired since. This is a shame because in my opinion, the programme used to be great Saturday night viewing all those years ago.

Summary: Was great viewing. Sad it's not around anymore.
