Advantages: amusing, often gives good decorating ideas

Disadvantages: it can get boring after a bit

... you'd have to be insane to go on it.
The whole concept isn't exactly sensible. You let your neighbours into your house with some designer, and they completely turn around everything in the chosen room.
Almost every single room I've seen redecorated on the show has ended up over the top. Yes, sometimes the rooms are good, but most of them could in no way be lived in.
The point is, these designers so on the show to make a name for themselves, and theres no way they're going to do that by painting everything magnolia. They have to be wild and extravogant if they're going to be remembered.
This is always worth watching, even if only to laugh at Handy Andy (the star of the show) or wonder at these people's sanity.
