Advantages: Occasionaly is a little bit radical.
Disadvantages: When it comes to the crunch, it is a pro-establishment organ.
You think Channel 4 News is uncensored? Is the role of C4 news to pretend to be radical, but to secretly censor out anything that would be too damaging to the powers-that-be? Try using the C4 news forum: try printing detailed information suggesting Osama bin Laden works for the CIA, or something similar. It will be censored. according to - http://www.propagandamatrix.com/shayler_gate.html "Tony Blair... ordered a D-Notice on British media reporting.... "This regards the case of former MI5 officer David Shayler, who has evidence to prove MI6 gave £100,000 to b** L***** and A*-Q**** ".... Newspapers all over the country, including the Guardian, the London Evening Standard and the Scotsman have either completely removed or amended their articles...." I think the alleged £100,000 was allegedly given to "the sort of Islamic Extremists who have connections to Osama Bin Laden's Al Qaeda network." Did Channel 4 news report on the alleged payment to 'extremists'? Apparently not. When Figaro newspaper reported that bin Laden stayed at an American Hospital in Dubai immediately prior to 9 11, did C4 news investigate in detail? Did it send someone out to Dubai and did it broadcast an interview with a partner in the hospital? Apparently not. When there were reports on the internet that CIA chief George Tenet met Halil al-Dich, a top bin Laden aide, in Canada, 3 weeks before 9 11, did C4 news investigate and broadcast a report on this? Apparently not. When it was 'demonstrated that the anthrax attacks originated at America's Fort Detrick', and may have involved people with CIA links, did C4 news launch a major investigation? Apparently not. When it emerged that several Americans had received prior warning of 9 11, and had stayed away from the WTC on 9 11, did C4 news mount a detail
ed investigation? Apparently not. When a Pentagon official admitted that people with the same names as the 9 11 'hijackers' had been trained during the 1990's at US military bases, did C4 news investigate in depth? Apparently not. After the Lockerbie Bomb trial, both the Austrian legal expert who observed the trial for the UN, and Prof Black who had helped set up the trial, made it clear that the conduct of the trial was very far from perfect. There were suggestions by many that the trial had been a cover-up of misdeeds by a section of the CIA. Did C4 mount an investigation and report in detail the words of the critics? Apparently not. I used to think the Guardian was a source of non-censored news. Then I began to notice the large number of stories which read like hand outs from MI6/Mossad/the CIA. Then I noticed that the Guardian employs very few Moslems and an abnormally large number of friends of Israel and the US elite. Then I began to notice that Channel 4 is like the Guardian. And the BBC. When C4 has done programmes on September 11 or major conspiracy theories it has generally ended up taking a largely pro-establishment position. Have a look at this interview of Jon Snow: DE: “There’s a radical analysis of the media which says that wealthy owners, parent companies, advertisers, and so on, act as filters that tend to remove facts and ideas damaging to powerful corporate and state interests. Are you aware of that argument, and what do you make of it...?” JS: “I’m aware of the argument; I don’t believe it’s true.”...... DE: “Pinochet. Greg Palast wrote in the Observer: ‘The October 1970 plot against Chile’s President-elect Salvador Allende, using CIA “sub-machine guns and ammo”, was the direct result of a plea for action a month earlier by Donald Kendall, chairman of PepsiCo
, in two telephone calls to the company’s former lawyer, President Richard Nixon.’ I saw that in the Observer, but I didn’t see it discussed anywhere else. Did you see th at discussed anywhere else?” JS: “Well, I haven’t seen that particular story discussed anywhere else...." Well, exactly!
