Channel 5 News from the studio Mondays to Fridays starting at 11.30 mid day and 5.30 evening. I think they present the news in a less formal way than the BBC, is this a good thing? I don’t know. The 20 minute sessions tend to be overlong a can sometimes degrade to the level of a chat show. The evening slot runs from 5.30 - 6.00 pm with a weather update at the end of the show. Channel 5's news bulletins are ok in a tabloidy sort of way, except for one detail of the style of presentation: For some reason, the producers think it looks good for the various newscasters to "perch" on the edge of a desk or table rather than sitting down normally. (I'm not sure if they originated it..I'm trying to remember if John Craven used to do something similar on "Newsround"). Anyway, I suppose they think it looks urgent and "fast-moving". Although Channel 5 generally gets bad publicity especially after last weeks Naturist Week but the Channel 5 news is a pretty good news show. Every hours there are updates to keep you informed and it is quick and concise. Its main news at 6 o clock is done well done. Chaneel 5 have done well to get the presenter from ITV and she anchors the program well. What I like about the Channel 5 news is that it is quite informal. One part I dont like about it is the weather. The graphics for it are terrible. I think they should stick to the normal way with the sea colours blue and not purple (or whatever colour it is) ...
