Children In Need

Description: Yearly appeal for children on BBC1.

Newest Review: ... so well. Comic Relief gives to domestic and foreign causes and makes half the money on the night as Children In Need does. Let's not forget the same British public gives £2 million a year to donkey sanctuaries alone and three times as much to animal charities as third world ones. Another theory on why the money goes up every year is because more people than ever want to get involved and ... more

Premium Review Children In Need: Please give generously, these Z-List celebrities need work (1161 words)

You can donate a fiver to BBC Children in Need by texting DONATE to 70077 http://www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey/donate/ 'Children in Need' is just as dreadful as it is wonderful. The wonderful bit is the money they raise; an incredible 38 million last time, the dreadful bit is the Friday night show, like having all of your teeth pulled out a once. It's not so much the line up of the celebrities but the laziness of the entertainment. Little effort goes into putting together the sketches and sing songs and there's nothing remotely entertaining about serious media people being silly. The soaps do extremely tiresome musical skits whilst old Sir Terry prattles on. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A fine charity but lamentable TV programme (475 words)

Children in Need is a very worthy charity doling out grants to projects through out the country for the help and assistance on young people in all situations, they of course focus on the needy and abused and is as I said very worthy. Thats my caveat to the rest of the article. The charity raises its money through a night long extravaganza broadcast in November every year on a Friday night fronted by Terry Wogan and an attractive young woman currently the talentless Fearne Cotton. The show is a think in my opinion the worst TV to be aired by the BBC through out its output for the whole year, the show starts at 7pm and usually finishes at around 1am and is ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Children In Need: Entertainment at its Absolute Worst (487 words)

Children In Need is an annual event that comes around far too quickly for my liking. The basic concept of the show is an evening of 'entertainment' interspersed with appeals for money. Throughout the day children will have mufti days at school and shave their heads all in the name of charity. I'm sure Children in Need does a huge amount of good across the country every year and they've managed to get a load of chavs out of poverty. However, as entertainment it truly is the dirtiest skidmark on the sleeve of the BBC. How can they possibly churn out the same old rubbish year on year? For hours on end one Friday every November this rubbish comes on. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review An extremely worthy charity (365 words)

It never ceases to amaze me at people's generosity, and how the human race can come together at any time to show can unified it can be. One of the main ways in which this happens is charity, and Children In Need is one of the biggest charities in the country, and certainly one of the most advertised and celebrated (if that is the right word) charities we have. Each year, Terry Wogan adopts his usual roguish pose and nuances as he takes to the stage at 7pm for an entire evening of entertainment, documentaries and pledging to raise as much money as possible for the deprived children in today's society. It touches me how many children are left wanting at the end ...  Read the complete review

I must be getting a little soft in my old age but I found myself crying at this years Children in Need. There seems to have been two major stories in the news this week about children being killed by their own parents. I think it is great that a programme such as Children in Need can help children enjoy a better life. The true life stories are gentle reminder to some of us that life is precious and that we should enjoy what we have and appreciate everything around us. The children shown on the videos are so brave and are a true inspiration. Children in Need started in 20 years as a radio program and has come such a long way since raising over £460 ...  Read the complete review
