Advantages: A great charity.

Disadvantages: Not so great a show these days.

Children in need has come a long way since its 5 minute radio show in the 1920`s when they used to raise amounts around the few thousand mark. Nowadays the funds raised are in their millions with last year seeing 37 million raised for this excellent charity.

The TV show started out more than 20 years ago and is still going strong although I feel it has gone downhill a bit in very recent years. It is great to see all the TV personalities come together and work for one night free to help raise cash for the children in need charity but it seems the shows organisers are running out of ideas for the show.

Having two kids of my own these days I am even more driven to helping out to ensure that no kid has to go without and every year for the past five years I have donated £100. This year I intend to donate my usual £100 and I am also intending to reach £50 on Dooyoo between now and the time I make my donation and add this to it.

I will probably still tune into the show which is aired on BBC1 but no longer will I be watching from its 7pm start till the early hours of the following morning but I will try to pick out the things that look good during the show rather than viewing it all.

It seems to me that instead of the great performances and fun times that were in the shows in years gone by it is now all about the presenters and star acts strutting around like the big I ams because they are helping out a charity. I think each and every one of them as well as turning up for a short time and putting on a show should also make live pledges t the cause because they all have more money than the public at home but most of us donate what we can!

A good show on its way downhill but please still tune in and give what you can to a wonderful and very worthy cause and dont forget to buy your pudsey bear merchandise because not only is he the mascot for the show, he is now probably the best act on it too!

Summary: The show gets five stars for what it stands for but only three for for watchabillity!

As you are donating your earnings to this excellent cause and as it is early in the morning and I cant sleep, I shall spend my time reading and rating your back catalogue!
