Advantages: great harmless family fun
Disadvantages: no series DVD release as of yet???
Most people would have heard of these brothers but not many would admit to liking the duos wacky sense of humour, (although I defy anyone who watches them not too giggle at least once...!?)
They are probably the funniest comic partnership on the scene at the present time, especially for the fact that they are probably the only comedians who can raise a titter without using foul language or by slating others... they simply have an amazing ability to be able to laugh at each other and themselves.
* The Brothers were born in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England in the 1940s, under the surname of Elliot... Paul on Christmas eve in 1943 and Barry on the 18th of October in 1947.
* Paul is the taller of the two who, for some reason, really thinks he is skilled at everything he does, from carpentry to ship painting, but unfortunately his skills are not quite as good as he thinks... although that doesn't stop him in trying, (and failing...!).
* Barry is the shorter brother with a very comical looking face indeed, who, deep down, looks up to his older brother, (not just literally either). He does tend to be able to resolve the trouble which his older brother create, although never acknowledged for the fact... although sometimes you do get the feeling that he does become quite irritated by his brothers foolish behaviour..
They won a talent show called New Faces in 1974, then in 1985 they signed up for the BBC for a silent comedy show called Chucklehounds, dressing up as dogs to try and entertain the very young... but their true calling came in 1987 when they started up their still running show called Chucklevision...where they play a couple of comical bumbling no hopers, travelling around by peddle power in what they call 'the Chuckmobile, which looks like two tandems tied side by side, (although it does seem to be Barry who does most of the peddling..!).
In each episode of their television series the pair somehow end up struggling their way through some rather silly situation with as much grace as a gorilla on ice... snowballing their first little mishap into a major catastrophe, usually walking away muttering "oh dear...oh dear..."
They will try their hand to anything they are asked to do, and even when not asked to do as well, unfortunately they have a tendency to fail at what they try, although Barry seems to be the more 'sensible' of the brothers.
* The BBC series...
They made nearly 300 episodes creating 20 series of brilliantly comical fun for all ages... event he younger children will love the utter stupidity of the hilarious brothers.
But as there are so many episodes I would be accused of 'padding' if I wrote them all here, (plus I'd probably bore the living daylights out of you), so I will simply tell you where you can find the complete episode listing...

I have watch most episodes, if not all, as I have to admit I am a big fan of the funny looking pair and they have never failed to make me giggle, especially as at the end of each episode they do show a few outtakes as the credits role... pure hilarity watching the duo making there mistakes as the cast and crew roll about laughing...
To pick my favourite is hard, as there are just so many of them, but the top five I really enjoyed watching repeatedly are...
1) Who's minding the store..? (srs17 epsd 3) Which involves Paul taking charge in a small corner shop, much to the dissatisfaction of the owner...
2) tomorrows news.. (srs 19 epsd 10) which sees paul and barry managing to get there hands tomorrows newspaper, deciding to try and stop the reported events from happening before they do...
3) Lord Chuckle .. (srs 9 epsd 9) which see Paul thinking he has become nobility when he discovers a birth mark.. But the truth is soon unveiled.
4) Lollipop lollipop... (srs 13 epsd 1) which see paul as a lollipop man and Barry as a traffic warden, only things go wrong when a very unhappy motorist takes pauls lollipop stick.
5) On your pike... (srs 15 epsd 8) which see the pair taking a break on a fishing trip, only for the local farmer to intervene...
Although I, and my two kids, especially my 6 year old, simply love watching any that come on the television these days... they do tend to put two episodes on CBBC around 3 pm during the week, although this does change sometimes.
In fact, this is one of the few programs my youngest daughter will stop everything to settle down and watch each 15 minute show, keeping her quite throughout... (maybe she has a little crush on one of them LOL, she says she hasn't just before she chases me round the room)...
* IN CONCLUSION
These two are without doubt all round entertainers for people of all ages.
They will never be accused of offending anyone at all with there slapstick comedy and there amazing ability to feed off each other... especially when mistakes are made during filming/ live shows and the pair continue to perform regardless, almost merging the mistake into the actual show... making the audience wonder if a mistake was even made in the first place...
It does seem that the older these two comics have become the better they have performed, aging well like a vintage bottle of fine wine. Although I do realise that their humour is not to everyones taste there will be at least one part of an episode or live show which will make everyone giggle... unless you're a corpse and incapable of laughter...
To me these two are like a tame version of Richie Richard and Eddie Hitler from the BBC series Bottom...working off each other as their show unfolds, using mistakes to add to add to the already fantastic humour... only I wouldn't allow my kids to watch Richie and Eddie for the obvious reasons, but I have no qualms in letting my kids watch Paul and Barry as I know there is absolutely nothing which will upset them or corrupt there little minds, which is a bonus with some of the nonsense that is aired these days.
To be honest, when I saw them last Christmas in Aladdin I don't think there was one person that left the pantomime with a dry eye from laughing so much... considering the place was full to the brim with people of all ages, from school parties to grand parents... everyone simply loved the manic behaviour of the brother whilst feeling at ease about there be no offensive material... the show was loved all round and if they are going to appear near you then I do recommend going to see them, you won't regret it one bit, (but do take a child or you may feel a little silly sat in amongst the chuckling little people, I went with my kids and their school party... and I'm glad I did),
There are some DVDs which can be found at amazon.co.uk but these are only some of the live shows and not the BBC tv series, (as I don't think they have released any as of yet... although you can correct me if I'm wrong)... DVDs such as Indianna Chuckles and the Kingdom of Mythical Sulk, Pirates of the River Rother and Spooky goings on... ranging in price from £7.00 to a box set for less than £25.00...
Simply a pure bargain for hours of entertainment... I'm just hoping they do release the television series soon...

Besides the brilliant TV series the brothers also had their fingers in other pies... such as game show called 'from me to you' (named after their most famous catchphrase), an appearance in 'The Weakest Link' special and many stage shows... where I for one confess to have seen them in last Christmas Aladdin, (Barry as the Aladdin and Paul as his brother Wishie Washee) at The Tameside theatre... and yes, I laughed my head off and so did everyone else in the place, it was the best live show I've ever seen, (and I've seen a few)
