Advantages: great and funny shows, good live

Disadvantages: may not make any more shows :(

Though there hasn't been any new shows lately, I love to watch the older series of Chucklevision when they're shown or on a recorded video I find somewhere because they are just soo funny! The 'Chuckle' brothers, really called Paul and Barry Elliot, are a great source of entertainment; the best programme I have watched for a while, with their scetches of hitting eachother around the head while carrying something etc. they make me chuckle every time!

It started screening back in 1987 meaning it has been on our TVs for a good 16 years which is rather impressive! But back then, the first two series where alot different, showing the Chuckle brothers presenting a show about different topics including sport, travel and fashion but, the show changed after that and instead, we say the real-life brothers performing many a mishap in their new kind of show which showed them doing 15 minuit long stories, generally involving them attempting to do something and struggling at it: 'It seems wherever they go they can do no right!' The show now still has the same credits as back then at the end of the show and attracts about three million viewers when it is on TV.

Viewers may regognise some charectors appearing in these shows as their brothers, Jimmy Petton and Brian are in some shows, making it almost like a family reunion in some episodes! Dan the Van is a charector who is heard alot but never seen, giving the pair many a task to do, no matter how badly they do. Their means of transport is named the Chuckle-mobile which is a great car.

I used to watch it weekly on Friday at 3:55 on CBBC, BBC 1 and always laughed, however stupid the due where. I loved the theme song, repeatedly saying Ch-ch-chucklevision,
Chchucklevision, Ch-ch-chucklevision! Their catch phrases like 'To me, to you' (from a furniture remover to now a well known catch phrase amoung people) and 'Oh dear, oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear, oh de
ar' are amusing as they always fail but you can see they are trying their hardest which makes it funnier.

The content of the show, written by Paul and Barry, is clearly based on real working-class experiences; their mistakes and things they have done wrong while in the same possition as their on-screen selves. Most episodes include a harsh employer like Mr "No Slacking"- played by their older brother, Jimmy. The Elliots are from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, so can collect inspiration inspiration from watching keenly the habits of odd-job men peers around their area.

Dispite camoes from high profile stars such as Paul Shane, Roy Castle, Dave Benson-Phillips and Goodness Gracious Me's Meera Kumar, the Chuckle's comedy show was still deprived of the prime-time slot, meaning the boys were pretty much ignored by the comedy scene. This is quite frankly foolish of them, as the brother's show shows a great moral message for children of Britain to view and it will be good for them to see.

The Chuckle Brothers, however, have come a long way since they first started, when they used to have to dress in dog costumes left over from 'It's a Knockout' for 'The Chucklehounds' in '85 due to lack of funds, now Barry drives a white Mercedes and they have earnt theselves a small fortune from live performances, doing world tours occasionally.

Overall, they are the finest pair of comedians around today in my eyes and hopefully they will make a new series of their show in the near future or tour in an area local to me again. Thanks for reading my review.
