Imagine a being transported back in time to a community where men went down the coalmines by day and the women worked in a 'munnitions factory. Some of the women stayed at home during the day to look after younger pre-school children. at night when the men came home from the mines, they might be required to do a stint of Home Guard duty. The time was the 1940s, deep in the throes of World War 2. The place was the mining community of Blaenavon, and in particular a small community of houses known as 'Stack Square' A group of families from Wales were able to be transported back in time to re-live the 1940s life of a Welsh mining community in wartime.
