Advantages: View into six lives.
Disadvantages: Addictive.
A few years ago there was a marvellous American TV series called ThirtySomething. Cold Feet is built around the same scenario as that programme, which is where three couples are each leading their own lives, but the couples are linked from the past for different reasons, and now their lives are inter-twinned with their present life styles. All of the six characters in the programme have strong personalities, which leads them to be successful at almost everything they try. Work seems incredibly easy for them and rarely do they have any mundane or boring tasks to do. I think it is this lifestyle idealism that makes the programme such a draw. I think we would all like to live this type of worry free life, where any problems that do arise can be discussed and solved over a few bottles of wine at a dinner party. Although there are six main characters, in my mind there are only two real stars of the show and these are James Nesbitt and Helen Baxendale (Adam and Rachel). The on/off nature of their relationship is intriguing, but I am sure in the end they will marry, and will have children. Adam is a very strange guy, but very interesting. Rachel is beautiful, so attractive, so loving and so wonderful. My favourite scene from any of the shows so far was when Adam and Rachel were playing Strip Scrabble. Unfortunately the programme finished about 30 seconds too early! It is rare for me to actually plan to watch any TV programme, but this is one that I really do not like to miss. I am not alone in believing that this is a great programme, as it won the award for Best Comedy Drama at the 2000 British Comedy Awards. If you have not watched this programme before then it may take you a few episodes to appreciate the relationships between the couples and the history between them, but once you are involved with their lives it becomes very addictive. I even have to log off from DooYoo for this programme, yes it is that good.
