Very entertaining - especially for foodies! (Come Dine With Me)

Advantages: Funny and interesting Disadvantages: Can get a bit repetitive Come Dine With Me is a Channel 4 programme (often repeated on More 4) in which four contestants compete to see who can host the best dinner party. In four half-hour episodes we see the highlights (and often lowlights) of each dinner party as well as the participants' reactions to the food, entertainment and company they have been subjected to each evening. At the end of the week the scores given by each guest for each host are totted up and the winner is given £1000. It's a great programme if you are interested in food and dining as you get to see all sorts of different tips and tricks for preparing food - my favourite was from a kosher Jew who uses disposable foil tins for cooking meat to save on washing up - and can find the recipes for most of the dishes on the Channel 4 website accompanying the show. It is also enjoyable to watch 4 different personalities inflicting their often peculiar tastes on one another. The guests also seem to be given free rein to wander around the host's bedroom looking in drawers and cupboards which I wasn't aware was appropriate dinner party behaviour but makes for amusing viewing! Summary: Great tips for prospective dinner party hosts! |
